I am curious though, if this goes well for us, and HMRC 'loose' - what is at stake for the people involved on the side of the government? Is it a case of a few people are sacked? looked over for promotion? or are some kittens going to be killed?Politicians are wonderfull people, as long as they stay away from things they don't understand, like working for a living!Comment

He has asked if we could show restraint in reference to the HMRC officers.
This is my fault for stirring it up and naming them.

So why does the NTRT newsletter talk specifically about pursuing HMRC individuals for breaches of duty/conduct?
I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpieceComment

So HMRC are allowed to name "tax avoiders/dodgers" but we arent allowed to call out HMRC officers....eh? I understand throwing abuse is a bit unnecessary but naming them shouldn't be an issue.Comment

I understand this is a public forum and restraint is needed. However I also understand how strongly a lot of us affected by this, feel towards the 'people' that have put us through the mill and continue to do so. This is highlighted by the latest ploy of trying to criminalise all of us in a fraud accusation. Whilst to most of us this is ludicrous, to some it will cause even more daily stress and panic. These 'people' - and they are all individuals (and don't even try and use the Nuremberg "I was only following orders'" defence) - have absolutely NO IDEA of the daily grief, heartbreak, stress, family breakdown (and worse) that they have caused, and are causing, to thousands of people due to their petty vindictiveness and spite.Originally posted by cojak View PostWhat The Chairman Said.

It's therefore not altogether surprising that some people want retribution as well as justice.
Hopefully when this sorry mess is resolved there are proper legal means to address this. Threats and accusations now, mean we are stooping to their pathetic level and won't reflect well on us. Let's try and keep the resentment on simmer until the end game has finished. We can then really turn up the heat.Comment

I'm in the unfortunate position of having Gauke for my MP. You should see the pic on his election fliers. Smug doesn't begin to describe it.

Seriously? I've been a civil servant. It's virtually impossible for civil servants to be sacked. The ones that screw up seem to be the ones who get promoted. This situation is life and death to us, but to them it's just a job. It's because it's not life and death to them that they can be casual enough to draft regulations that a good tax barrister can drive a coach and horses through. The only evil part of what they've done is instead of holding their hands up and saying 'It's a fair cop, we screwed up with the wording.' they've introduced changes retrospectively to say 'this is what we actually meant'.Originally posted by portseven View PostI am curious though, if this goes well for us, and HMRC 'loose' - what is at stake for the people involved on the side of the government? Personally I can live with that, although I know others don't feel the same way.Comment
