    IPSE or another insurance provider

I have been contracting for a number of years and always had a subscription with the PCG, now IPSE. My subscription is due for renewal soon and was wondering if it was better to ditch IPSE and look for alternative policies such as those offered by QDOS etc or if it's still worth being an IPSE member?

    Thanks

We've always recommended Qdos and they offer other services as well as insurance. Then again, it is insurance and so possibly the dullest expense you will ever have - so does it really matter?

If you want all the insurance that being an IPSE+ member gives you, then I think you'll struggle to get the same cover for the price of membership.

Thanks for the replies and the link to the other thread.

Based on the replies, I think I'll stick with the IPSE. I only want insurance, specifically in case of any tax investigations. As I understand it, QDOS only cover the costs of any penalty that arise from a tax investigation whereas IPSE will cover the cost right from the start. This is an important factor for me.

Just to clarify that our policies do cover all representation costs in any HMRC enquiry - right from when the initial letter is received.

No, but they do provide it...

As has been said many times, IPSE+ is a no brainer for 99% of contractors.
