So - if you're an IT PM, and you apply for a construction job, but also an IT job - I am immediately put off. If you're a specialist IT PM and the job titles are close, and you've been green flagged for that role, I'm far more likely to deep read your details.

Ah balls, well thats not going to look great for moi... I just want to work and know I could do several roles very well thus reason for applying.

Lets hope I get a few more responses - applied for a few positions this afternoon.

@Scrag Meister - I am skilling in something I enjoy however still building on the foundations and a reputation. Its def something I am investing my bench time in whilst I learn the skill and is for the future. There is a demand for it and it will grow but not typical contracting market. As always competing with the emerging IT nations!

Suddenly, my life has found a focus. I must get three reds in a row.

              DOS? COBOL? Windows 3.0?

But seriously, all the best with the two interviews. (Hope the contract gets offered first, though! )

Oh dear! Just read that article on the main site by Cojak.

No wonder some people are still on the bench. Never, ever hold out for a 'prospect' when you have a definite in front of you.

Right had my 2 interviews yesterday .... now the wait.

Interview 1 was with a company in the "city" in London approx 50 employees of which only 1 contractor. Offices were swish and breathtaking views overlooking the thames/eye/parliament... contract is for only 4 weeks with possibility of extn. I am up against a permie also going for the role - was told MD who was off yesterday - would decide today. I now wait in anticipation...

Interview 2 was with a permie position with a US start up. Based in Green Park, London. The role was a bit gray but quite impressed with the interviewing manager... he was relatively young and showed eagerness to succeed. I await again on the decision but he did give me his business card when leaving the interview and said twice he would be in touch - so again waiting to see what is offered!

I am not entirely fussed about whether going permie/contracting as pretty much balances out with pros/cons on potential package being offer.

PS. Interview 3 was in the "city" again but it wasn't for a positon but a company saying they would "market" me as a product for unadvertised positions... no dout a fee would be involved but as I was running out of time to get back home - I said I would reschedule next time in the big smoke.

All in all an overall good day and I wait to see how my first interview in 4 years went! I even wore my glasses for the 2nd interview to see if it made me look more intelligent... note: my number is very small 0.25

I thought I'd publish it as a warning/reminder to others...
