    Hello from the South West

    Morning all,

Just thought I would say 'hello'.

I've looked at this forum on-and-off for a number of years now, and recently joined it. Having been made redundant from a permie job and realising that I didn't have as much job security as I thought I had, I bit the bullet and thought I would try contracting. It's all a bit of an experiment, but my thinking was that after my first 6mth contract I'd have a much better idea whether it was for me or not.

So far, I'm enjoying it. I've found there has been lots of admin - ltd company set-up, insurances, accountants, business bank accounts, timesheets, invoices etc. but I'm pretty organised so it should be ok once I've been through it a few times.

I'm also still learning loads (which is why I am here), especially around the areas of Opt In/Out and IR35 which after much reading still confuse me.

    Thanks,

    GB

Just remember that no matter how much the pimps tell you Opt In/Out and IR35 have nothing to do with each other.

      Welcome.

I look forward to your all knowing and likely sarcastic and unhelpful reply.

And never believe them when they tell you the contract is "IR35 friendly". There's no such thing!

In general, best to opt out where possible.

          Enjoy the CUK!
