How to blow yer laptop up without really trying.

Dunno how relevant this is to real life, but it sounds like a good move not to plug the adaptor into the laptop when it's powered up.

    Ooh err!

Ta for that Zeity. I was told to turn off the socket before plugging anything in, but you forget that piece of advice over the years.

A friend of mine's mrs not only unplugs everything at bedtime including sky box, telly, micro but also points the plug prongs upwards in case some leccy leaks out and causes a fire!

From March 2001? I hope the world has moved on a little from that. It is also a US based study. The UK capacitors will have a much stiffer upper lip and will handle any spikes before having elevenses on the lawn.

How do I do this? ClientCo's laptop runs like wading through molasses in wellies. Blowing it up might procure me a slightly more up to date model.

take the memory out, cover gold contact edges with foil, insert with power on if brave enough. Remove foil and insert memory again.
