    It's cheaper on eBuyer.

Although this one looks similar and is even cheaper - 298P4QJEB/00 29 LED IPS 2560x1080 DVI 2xHDMI.. | Ebuyer.com

Also agree there is a TON of difference between 1920x1080 and 2560x1440 and I'd never want to go back. If you work in IT and screen real estate is important to you, get one of these and you'll never look back.
+1 for the DGM here too. Picked one up in the OCUK April sale after seeing it here - credit to Durbs for that. The colour and clarity of the LED display is stunning imho. Yes the stand is flimsy but only a problem if you have a need to continually re-adjust the positioning.

Thing with a dual monitor setup is that you can just drag and maximise windows. With one of these big monitors, you presumably have to manually resize the windows to get them to sit where you want.

          FTFY.

I have the 27" dual screened with the original 17" LCD but I hardly ever use the 2nd monitor, partly because the image looks so crappy in a side-by-side comparison and partly because 2560x1440 is plenty enough already. It's been useful when remote desktoping into another PC as then the remote desktop can be used in full screen mode on the 2nd monitor.

That's barely more than a single Dells 27"er.
normal HD resolution is 1920 x 1080, so it adds an extra 25% to the width. I agree that it is missing thr extra depth but it is only under consideration

            LG take care of that
LG includes a utility that will automatically re-arrange your windows to be any combination of 2 to 4 on the screen at once

Windows 7 lets drag windows to the sides of the screen to automatically maximise them to that half of the screen. Should work pretty well with a monitor that wide.

That's only 2 windows, the LG thing does 2, 3 and 4 windows

That would be my concern - I run my Windows VM maximised in the left monitor, and everything else maximised on the right one. It's much easier to drag a window into one monitor and maximise than faffing about with manually resizing the windows.

I wonder if there is a decent windows resizing tool for Linux.

Mmm, that is quite cool. It also looks a lot more useful there than I first thought. For most of my work where I'm working in one screen and viewing the changes in the other, it probably wouldn't help but it would be good for video editing and music software etc, anything with a horizontal work flow or timeline.

I just wish I could get my dual monitors to be treated as one big monitor... I saw it done years ago but no graphics card I ever owned seems to have that option... so I can split the taskbar across both screens, maximise a window to the whole desktop, etc.

That IPS looks lovely but £400 is rather pricey.
