Big monitors

The basic idea is rather misguided then. The fact the panels came from the same factory doesn't mean the end products are of comparable quality. As is the case with most semiconductor manufacture LCD panels are graded for quality and there are noticeable differences between the grades in terms of dead & defective pixels, evenness of colour reproduction and backlighting and so on. That's going to make a big difference to the quality of the end result before even considering the quality of the electrical and mechanical engineering and assembly that goes into producing a finished product.Last edited by doodab; 10 April 2013, 20:34.While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. I have a pair of Dell U2412M. Couldn't be happier with them. If you shop around, you can get high end monitors for way less than the headline prices (I think Dell were charging over 300 quid each, but I managed to get them on special from aria.co.uk for less than 150 each).Comment

Cheers for the input.
Think the race is down to Hp and samsung. I am still haunted by a DELL support call from 5 years ago and I'm probably wanting to keep away from almost unbranded stuff if I ever want to double up to dual monitor again in the future and get a match easily.
Having said that there are bargains to be had for 1920*1080 ones, almost tempted just to pick up 2 again.Comment

I've just picked up one of these:Originally posted by minestrone View PostHaving said that there are bargains to be had for 1920*1080 ones, almost tempted just to pick up 2 again.
DGM IPS-2701WPH 27" LED Widescreen Professional Monitor - Black [IPS-2701WPH]
And couldn't go back to 1080 again after having seen what these 2560x1440 panels are like. World of difference!Comment

I just got a 24" DELL Ultrasharp IPS panel. I've been using DELL for many years and have yet to have a problem.
If you have a DELL business account then support is quite good.McCoy: "Medical men are trained in logic."

Ooh that looks nice. Do you think it would work with one of these? :Originally posted by Durbs View PostI've just picked up one of these:

The card specifications say it should do 2560x1600 but the max mode in Windows 7 under "List All Modes" is 1920x1080 with "Hide modes this monitor cannot display" not ticked.
Upgrading the gfx card might be possible but it's a client PC so I'd rather not.Comment

2560X1440 isn't Quad HD (4K UHD), 3840x2160 is.Originally posted by tranceporter View PostThen again I am a bit of a whacko, but I would buy one of those Quad HD korean monitors. Something on the lines of what is mentioned here:
Cheap Korean/ebay 27" 2560x1440 monitor £217 - any good? - Hot UK Deals
Or, if this fits your bill, seems like a decent price...

Are you ready for this (8K UHD)?Last edited by Scrag Meister; 19 April 2013, 13:27.Never has a man been heard to say on his death bed that he wishes he'd spent more time in the office.Comment

It should work looking at the specs, you certainly ain't going to be gaming on it but, as long as you are using the dvi or displayport rather than the VGA connector you should be good.Originally posted by Contreras View PostThe card specifications say it should do 2560x1600 but the max mode in Windows 7 under "List All Modes" is 1920x1080 with "Hide modes this monitor cannot display" not ticked.

£320 inc vat this week. I would grab one if I hadn't bought a cheapish lens earlier today.Originally posted by Durbs View PostI've just picked up one of these:
