Anyone used PowerBasic or QuickBasic for Windows dev?

I've bought PowerBasic but haven't got round to using it yet, so I can't be much help other than to say that every now again they have a sale where you can buy the product at half price. So if you're not in a hurry, you might save a few quid.

From memory Realbasic started off on Macs and was ported to Windows to allow cross compiling of applications. I've not looked at it for two years or so (no project has needed it).

While not suitable for his work, they should be more that adequate for stand-alone windows apps.

You should probably try and hire someone who knows what they are doing and let them choose their tools, within reason. Personally I would stick to VS because it will be easier to find people who have a clue.

From what I recall RealBasic is one route you can use for VB6 apps now that MS have stuck the knife in that.

You can't buy it, you licence it by the year instead. What happens if they go out of business?
