Basic question for fancy phone users

Got the hang of this Android thing now but my question is really about newer touchscreen phones with apps in general as I haven't got one.

I have a small number of views and the user may need to return to a previous view to make a different selection. At the moment I have buttons with "Back to ..." but are they necessary or would it be more natural for the phone user just to use the built in back/return facility? What do other apps do?

    Cheers for any input.

Most of them seem to use the back button. Also for hierarchical menus, closing context menu and so on.

Cheers for reply. You do mean the general back button not one in the app?

Yep, the physical button with the back arrow on my desire.

I always just use the back button in Safari on the iPhone.

Just bought an all singing all dancing 16Gb Samsung Android phone, very nice screen etc... But I must admit some of the actions are not entirely intuitive to me, a steep learning curve. Best feature for me seems to be the Google Maps GPS system, kills the battery though.
