So, am seriously considering jumping on the iPhone bandwagon as I really like the look of the iPhone 4.

I'm not very familiar with the iPhone technology so can someone advise if it syncs with MS Outlook.

I'm guessing not and that Apple uses its own PIM software.

You'll need iTunes and not just for synching.
Got my wife one over a year ago, before she could even use it we had to install iTunes so that the phone could be registered with the apple mothership.

Looks good but just a little bit put off about having to install iTunes which I know, from previous experience, can be a pain.

I've got a month or so to decide until my current mobile tariff expires which should give Apple time to release a fix for their signal reception issue.

iPod Nano: £100
Decent phone: free on any normal contract every couple of years
Game boy: not worth £400 extra

I don't think it syncs with Outlook. Well, I haven't seen that option on the iPod Touch. I know it syncs with Exchange though.

It syncs fine via iTunes with Outlook contacts, email and calendar (possibly also Notes) but not To Do (without 3rd party addons).

Thanks for confirming - I just need to sync my Calendar & Contacts.

Does anyone know if you can buy a SIM free iPhone 4 and just insert your own SIM card - will it work or is it locked down or do networks (O2) prevent you from doing this.

(I understand the iPhone 4 takes a micro-SIM card).
