    Love my iphone 4

    Received mine on Wednesday.

I was looking to upgrade my previous 32G S 32GB model to iphone 4 but none in store and O2 not taking orders via phone or web. Then on Monday O2 called me and advised that due to my current spend (contract £45 per month) they offered me an upgade.

New iphone 4 32GB cost me £179 but I also cashed my old phone in via O2 Recycle and they have offerred me £247 for my prior model so all in I am making £70 just for keeping contract with O2 for the next 18 months - very happy.

Not had any issue with the reception issue so far even though I hold it in my left hand which is what is supposed to be frowned upon.

Also never had any issue with iTunes and the phone will happily sync with Outlook Email, Calendar and Contacts as well as Exchange.

I use 1&1 for email via Exchange hosting and the iphone will also sync with Exchange over the air so all my data is available on my phone, via my PC or any web interface anywhere - works flawlessly.

    A very happy upgrader.

    PS
I could have got more for my old model from many of the other mobile phone cash back sites but decided upon O2 Recycle as it kept everything together with O2 and gave me the perception of additional bargaining power should they come back with a crud offer.

I've a feeling that the issues are over blown. The press has been waiting very patiently for a chance to rip into apple and now they're going in guns blazing.

Of course the phone is hardly cheap so waiting for the second generation iphone4 is always going to be a good idea.

Does anyone know if you can buy a SIM free iPhone 4 and just insert your own SIM card - will it work or is it locked down or do networks (O2) prevent you from doing this.

        (I understand the iPhone 4 takes a micro-SIM card).
You can and it does. It's perfectly possible, with care, to cut down a standard sim to fit in a micro sim slot. Just google for it, there are plenty of how to's out there.

Rory Cellan-Jones has a video on the BBC site of him trying and failing to do it.

Cheapest is the Tesco deal, according to MSE.

Just looked at their pricing and the Tesco 12 month contract looks tempting compared to the 18 months i'd have to sign up to O2.

Also just noticed that Tesco Mobile is 50% owned by O2 anyway and uses their network. Given i've been pretty happy with O2 coverage/service with my 3G then guess i'll give Tesco a try too.

FYI, the iPhone 4 is unlocked by default: Apple have imposed this on the mobile operators, a bit like the way they imposed DRM-free music on content providers to the iTMS the other year

                      Ordered mine yesterday, arrives tomorrow!

Tesco Mobile were still showing out of stock but got a handy tipoff that Tesco Direct had them so managed to bag one.

12 month contract on £20/month, unlimited data. Nice.
