I used that approach when selling a sofa last year - I got £400 for it !!

If you have a woodburning stove.

It is difficult. I come from a long line of farmers so I'm genetically disposed to hoard stuff.
I still have things my grandfather thought would 'come in handy one day'
        ... and haven't.....

        ...and anyway the horse's died......

Bah! The longer you hord something, the more reluctant you become to chucking it out 'in case you need it later.'

Shelf life, max 6 months then hoy it.
I couldn't give two fornicators! Yes, really!

            Agreed.
Otherwise the trouble is you end up living in a scrapyard.
I've recently had to 'defragment' my house to make room to redecorate.
You need to be able to completely empty one room. Decorate that.
Shift all the Sh1t ^H^H^H^H antiques back into it and move on to the next.

Woah! Easy on that coffee, TW. Your brain is running faster than your fingers.
My all-time favourite Dilbert cartoon, this is: BTW, a Dumpster is a brand of skip, I think.

Until a couple of years ago, I still had an old IBM system 36 in the cellar at home - it kept the house warm.

Took 7 of us to get the bugger out of the house.

Still have an 8" floppy drive in the attic....
