Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Hmmm, been using Chrome a day or so now. It's OK. Not exactly an intuitive user interface I find. It took me a few minutes to get a "home" button on the button bar. I couldn't see within ~3 minutes of looking last night how to bookmark a page, so I gave up. Those two issues should be obvious and staring you in the face. (Caveat- it was very late last night and I was tired but what the heck.)Public Service Posting by the BBC - Bloggs Bulls**t Corp.

Tried it last night. First impression is good. It's fast and very lean. I think it has a lot of potential. They need to clean it up and make Google toolbar working on itComment

As a creative professional, It would be remiss of me not to own a mac, and be familiar with the environment and the tools. Equally, some applications are PC-only.
I aim to resolve this using a VM. I'll be buying a mac for that VM setup because
a: It's easier and simpler. Computers are a tool I use to do my job, and I want as few obstacles in my path as possible.
b: It's faster. (Not in all things, but in my experience and with the apps I use, it is)
c: The build quality is good, the screens are high quality and colour profile switching is near-instant.
d: Running a VM is a piece of cake - shared clipboards, drag and drop and concurrent running is invaluable to me, and it's surprisingly quick, too.
e: The system is simply more stable. I've owned Win PCs and Macs side-by-side for A Long Time. I'm not saying I've never seen a mac die on me, but it outperforms similar Windows machines - by far - and I push these machines to the very limit of processing power/graphics rendering. Spend a while rendering 3D graphics or HD video and you'll see what I mean.
I'm not precious about the 'Mac culture', I don't own any polo necks (!), or wear thick-rimmed glasses, or hang out in wine bars. I've just used comparable machines side by side and know what works best for me. I do prefer Window's Office environment, and the buisness software. I don't play games so the fact that the games market is geared for PCs doesn't concern me...
But I am passionate about usability, and simplicity, and elegant (and robust) product design... and am happy to pay for it, especially as they outlast PCs in the long run.Comment
