    Bootable Linux CD

Any advice on the best way to burn a bootable Linux CD/DVD ?
I'm using UBUNTU right now, dual-boot with MSVista and I want to make a bootable disc so I can format the HD and do a clean Linux install.
I put the .iso file on disc, but it doesn't boot from that. I copied a bunch of bootldr files but that didn't do the trick.
It's probably a no-brainer, but any advice appreciated.
    Bored.

Are you burning as an ISO or just creating a data CD with the ISO on it?

The .iso is a disc image, it's not the files themselves, you need a burner like Nero (or various free ones) to actually burn an iso to disc.
Cooking doesn't get tougher than this.

I use DVDDecryptor to burn ISO files to disc.. Freebie but hard to find after he was forced to take the site down.. If you want a copy, I'll put one up on my server..

So if I extract the .iso files to a DVD - would that be bootable?
            Bored.

No ..... thats just like copying a Data CD. S

Seeing that you have the .iso use this and create a bootable CD/DVD.

I have used it many a times to create PXE boot discs.

                    WHS

Install it - it's not a big program.
Then right click on a iso image and burn to CD - job done.
