    excellent - thank.
Presumably development tools are again in the action pack. They took them out a few years ago.

Also consider usage. If you are proposing to develop and sell product then the licence does not cover it. The license only allows internal business purposes.

Think the differences between Pro/standard can be found on the MS website or on various sales pages. The pro one has a lot of SQL support stuff which you may not need if not into database thingies.

Indeed they did, but seems like they're putting some of the bits and bobs back.

For a number of years I was lucky to work at various companies with all the appropriate Universal/Gold licenses and was always able to try-out/install anything I wanted. The last few years not (surprising given the company I work for), so it's certainly something I'll be looking at.

        Thanks for the update.

Action pack does not include VS2008 or any other VS - Empower does, I use them both but will have to get full VS now as Empower is 2 years max.

          Just looking at https://partner.microsoft.com/UK/pro...k/mapscontents
and it SEEMS they include VS 2008 into it now, this was not the case last year or before - it seems however they have some additional requirements for this, some online courses bulltulip it seems.

It pays to read the previous posts, and maybe even click on the links they're referring to.

As long as the courses (not sure I saw that requirement, maybe didn't read it all properly!) can be taken after you've received your action pack, just ignore them. Much like I did with the requirements for the empowerment programme.

Action pack includes VS2008 as of the end of last year, through the special web edition toolkit. £199 + VAT. Plus you get many licenses for windows, office and some really expensive stuff like SQL Server and Windows Server 2008.

But, you can definitely use MFC on VC++ Express. Not sure about ATL.

Didn't work when I tried it, and MS say you can't. But I guess MFC is at the end of the day just a library,so you can probably make it work if you persevere.

Done the online training requirements and signed up.
So hopefully I'll find out soon - and get my VS2008
Looks like the standard edition is supplied. ;o)

What version of VS2008 is that, Pro? I have Action Pack and going to renew it at the end of April.

Read the post above yours. Jeez beginners, you have to explain everything to newbie forumers.
