    Retrain as a developer

Started off working as a developer on Java then Siebel and a bit of .net. Went into project management and completely disillusioned. Want to go back to being a developer . Any suggestions what language /cloud tools are best to retrain on . Criteria : should have a good job market for contracting.

There isn't one nowadays - it's slowly and surely being offshored poor quality offshore consultancies who in theory have lower costs

Edit - also it won't stop you ending up doing the PM's job as most PMs ain't much good.
merely at clientco for the entertainment

      I'm with eek.

You'd have to be mad to go back to development work from being a technical PM.
Unless it is your calling, or something.

Do you have any Agile training / ability? You could reinvent yourself as a Scrum Master. A few of my previous clients fired all their PMs, only to hire Scrum Masters to misuse to do the same thing..

Other options might be to move to Product Owner roles, or Tech Lead if you have the technical acumen and leadership skills.
