'web portal' - does this require local wifi LAN access AND some sort of cloud service, or LAN only?
These vendors never give this sort of info until you've committed to buying.

look good, but still looks like they're designed to talk to a mobile phone, not a PC.
no mention of ONVIF support in their sales pitch.

You can use the web portal to watch/manage/control them, but no, they do not support ONVIF.

Did you decide on anything?? i'm running an android emu to talk to my cams atm, but i'd prefer proper interface.

The Wife chose a 4 pack of Eufy S3 Pros with a Homebase as a birthday present for me. Still playing around with the settings, but excellent image quality (4K video) and all saved to a physical drive in my house. Wifi range is at least 45 metres, and the built in solar panels are keeping the batteries at 100% - haven't had to use the additional panels that came with the cameras.

still no ONVIF support. maybe that doesn't matter, but i'd be interested in any fairly cheap cam with support.

If you search for "CEYOMUR Wildlife Camera" on Amazon, mine is the £32 jobbie.
It does everything you mention, but you collect the video/image files by connecting a USB cable (or popping the SD card).
So you'd walk around with a computer, connecting each camara in turn and copying the files to a common folder.
Or leave them permanently connected with USB cables.
Maybe not ideal, but the cameras are pretty good.

For £38 you can get a version that sends data via a SIM card. But it might demand a cloud storage account.

Does it do live feeds over wifi? Is that a requirement?

If not, I bought a quite good PIR-triggered 4K IR video wildlife camera off Amazon for £32.
It works great. SD card not included.

The biggest requirement is good quality nighttime images without the need for lighting. A fast lens, a good trigger sensor, a method of recording that doesn’t require pulling a memory card, and a way of having multiple cameras recording to the same place - that’s what I’m looking for.

to be fair I knew Pihut (the vendor) did them, so thought it might be an idea to suggest it, other options from another vendor include this: My Naturewatch Wildlife Camera ( a lot cheaper and to be fair I only just checked the second vendor)
