Streetmaps is good but bit small. I tend to use Bing maps, has OS option. Use batch file to open in full screen on Windows:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" -kiosk http://www.bing.com/mapspreview
exit
or
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -k http://www.bing.com/mapspreview
exit

Different issue here...
When using google maps on ClientCo laptop, the map flickers a lot, like it's trying to refresh. If you zoom in or out, you could be waiting a few minutes while it flickers.
Only happens on this laptop, and it's not network related. Running IE11/Win7.

If you are looking for a sat nav app that doesn't use data when roaming then Navmii is quite good - used it in Europe and in the States last year. Just remember to download the maps first or that kind of defeats the object

I'm pleased that Streetmap is still around. I used it way before Google existed and thought it was better at the time.
I'll look to the mobile app and go back to using it.

Google Maps just crashes my main PC unless I'm using Chrome. Bing maps seems a bit more stable and has the option of viewing OS maps if you prefer them, just click on the drop down in the top right and choose Ordnance Survey.

There must be a better alternative to Google Maps
I really don't like Google Maps, firstly because half the screen is taken up by a useless box on the left, but mainly because the minor roads are so light and in many cases pretty much invisible!
I doubt if OS maps are free, because they seem to want to wring every penny out of their maps. But I seem to recall there was once a Yahoo map facility.
So does anyone knew of a clearer, preferably free, online UK map facility?
