Turned out sunny here too, this afternoon.

There's been a flurry of activity this morning/early afternoon.

The landlady turned up with a brickie to see what could be done about the garden wall that the tree was pushing over. They think it ought to come down entirely and be rebuilt. I can see a huge increase in my rent next year if I decide to stay put. If the quote is to her liking then hopefully the work could be done while I'm away at the beginning of September.

Then I called a car body workshop (what they'd call a coachworks back in the day and what the company call themselves too, I was pleased to observe) to see if they needed an appointment for giving my car a once-over for quotation purposes. They advised such formalities were not necessary so I off I toddled to the outskirts of Watford going past RAF Northolt and having a gander at Ruislip high street on the way.

I also called a local independent optometrist to make an appointment for a sight examination.

Grey day again and staying on the cooler side, being 17°C and getting no higher than 19°. It's still breezy too, giving a "feels like" temperature of 14°. The barometers are still dithering around 1008/1015mB

The new washer-dryer is arriving, and indeed the old one departing, tomorrow between 13:15 and 15:15! I'm glad it's not one of those 7am slots

Meanwhile on the 9th of February 2020 LM went to the BM via the underground, followed by a viewing of "Parasite", Brillo popped in, along with BR14, whereas WTFH visited TN (patron state of shooting stuff), Arkansas (where the toothpick came from), and Mississippi (where they burn a lot of stuff), and NF made a nice burger for tea, while I watched Doctor Who (no comment made), followed by Endeavour (naughty Morse).

Shopping trip to Morrisons done dusted washed dried sanitised & put away.

Walk (towpath) walked in the sunshine. Got hit in the eye by a bumble bee.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: The Infinite Monkey change waffling on about light. Since I seem to be approaching this during the weekly iRoning session, no doubt I'll listen again in a few weeks.

3 lawns duly mown and yet more brambles cut back. Stone me they do grow really quickly.

Them next door (the relatives) have a work person in doing stuff. This is so remarkable that I've remarked upon it. Wot my late mother would say about the state of the house I really dread to think.

Tea: beans on toast with scrambled egg, which reminded me what I forgot to buy this morning: eggs.

^^ I liked the Resident Evil films. I may have to give them a rewatch. BloodRayne (2005), on the other hand, was a very poor movie adaptation of a not completely terrible game. Uwe Boll, enough said.

Dull and overcast. Currently 17 degrees with a high of 21 expected. The ever-present minor threat of rain persists. Barometer up a smidge to 1017 mBar.

The wedding was as expected. Lots of waiting around for things to happen. Lots of corralling of guests for photo opportunities. The food was decent, if under seasoned, and the speeches suitably turgid. Mum didn't have a clue what was going on half the time and my nephew kept her topped up with Pimms. We left after the speeches in the dead period where the venue was being reconfigured for the evening reception. I was home before 8pm.

Today, I have an unexpected non-billing day. I could have logged on and billed but decided not to bother. I might work Monday instead.

Movie night tonight! The major motion picture premiere was A Working Man (2025) in which Jason Statham is a former British special forces chap who's Moved On and Doesn't Do That Any More… until his friend's daughter is kidnapped, whereupon he has to revert to being Jason Statham. It's well plotted with a decent story that turns out much as one would expect from one of his films, and none the worse for that

And then a rewatch of Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004), the second film of that ilk, which is also much as one might expect. I still think these are generally a lot better than films based on a game would be expected to be

Tonight's tea has been that pork and cider thing I made the other week with chips and peas. It's very nice, but I can't remember how I made it! It must have been based on a recipe I found online, so I'll have to search my browser history

Found it! It was from the Irish Food Board's website; I'll have to see if they've got any other good recipes on there, because that one was a winner
