Thought I got hardly any sleep last night but my snoring/swearing recorder tells me its wasn't bad at all and I had quite a decent not tired day. Volunteer litter pick this morning chatting to another old fart and loony lady 1 walk this afternoon.

She's a bit stressed out due to the absurd increases in her leasehold service charge fees, seems to be a national problem:

I know! So much for solidarity with the working class

But it just pissed me off that I'd cancelled my plans for the morning and waited around on tenterhooks (because UPS don't have a map you can check like the others) only for the git to lie about me not being here

Tea has been a rack of ribs and chips - well, about half of a rack as this variety from Sainsbury's is actually big enough for two people, as confirmed by the assertion "Serves 4" on the packet

I whined at UPS on Twitter and they actually responded, requesting the details via DM

As a result, I just had a phone call from them. They checked the driver's GPS and reckon he was within a minute's drive of here but not actually here, so he's in for a bollocking for fabricating a failed delivery

However, he's now finished for the day so all they can do is make sure it gets delivered on Monday; in other words, the same outcome for me as if I'd never bothered moaning at them

Oh, and I assume this means that on Monday, I'm expected to answer the door to a bloke who's just been given grief by his boss specifically because of me

When I got back from shopping, one of the crows was wandering around the lawn a few feet away from where I parked. It completely ignored the car, but I wondered if it might fly off, or at least move away across the lawn, when I got out. No, it turned out: it carried on strutting about the place, completely ignoring me. At least it didn't chase me away like a squirrel

    Shopping done!

I also made a minor detour on the way back to pop into M&S and then over to W. H. Smith's, where I bought a copy of Commando #5800 Cannonball Casey

They only had two copies left so I just bought one, as I have some on their way in the post. My brother bought every copy at Meadowhall, but there's bound to be a kid out there who tries to get every issue but has to wait until their parents take them to the retail park at the weekend, so I thought I'd give them a fair chance

FFS. "We have updated your delivery time" - yes, it now says "By the end of the day" so don't go pinning your hopes on winning that "most informative delivery service" award any time soon

Still no delivery though to be fair, it's expected to arrive some time up to 13:30

Turns out this is not always the case - they flew it over to EMA around three this morning, and it's out for delivery as of about twenty minutes ago!

I was about to go shopping, but I'll have to put that off to this afternoon now

    Morning all

Bright, glorious sunshine! Had you going, no it's just cloudy and dull again. Currently 9 degrees and that's it for the day. The weather app claims the sun will appear this afternoon but I don't believe it. No rain forecast. Barometer at 1024 mbar.

Scratchy eyes this morning, sniffles still sniffling. First coffee inhaled, I suspect I'll need a couple more before I feel like doing any work.

Forgot to mention yesterday that smalls and such were laundered. They will be replaced on the clothes airer by work dresses and other larger items of clothes later.

    Morning denizens

Yet another grey start. A touch sillier today though, being 7°C now and not getting any higher than 10°. The barometers are down a bit at 1015/1023mB

Last night's sleep wasn't too bad. The Covid jab is making its presence felt, but the arm isn't too sore and the lurgyish symptoms are relatively mild. I did think on to take a couple of paracetamol immediately before going to sleep, which has maybe helped. Anyway, I feel a bit tired and run down, but not as bad as it's been some years
