^^^ WNF&LMS. I've got jumpers suits older than that.

    Morning.

    Saturday.

    Wet, very.

    Grey, incredibly.

    Sunless, totally.

Chilly, a bit, in here at 12.7 deg, 11.5 in the kitchen, 9.5 in the leanto.

990 mBar, 29.235 in Hg, 742.56 Torr, 14.359 ps, (up from 982 last night, which, in turn was up from the 976 at one point).

Meanwhile on the 14th of March 2020 NF, LM, and eek popped in and it appeared that There Was A Storm Coming. .

Well I'm glad I sorted that out: I conflated "Dominique" with "Domino", this last being the story of Laurence Harvey's daughter who gave up a modelling career to become a bounty hunter and came to a sad end.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: FOOC (which may go <click> a lot depending on what they're on about).

    Morning all
Sunshine and some blue skies out, for a change.
A very loud squall blew through about 21:00 yesterday, for a moment I thought it was a Chinook landing on the roof of the house.
Must fill the bid feeders today.

Not one, but two major motion picture premieres tonight!

First up was Dominique (2024) in which the eponymous heroine, a trained killer from Ukraine, ends up defending a worthy family from cartel thugs in Colombia. I worked out from IMDb that this character first appeared in another film some years ago, and there are some references back to that at the end, but it’s never a case of feeling like you’re watching a sequel without having seen the madness of George I and George II

It’s pretty good, albeit exceptionally violent. It also (spoiler alert) dodges the trope of the happy ending; if anything, it inverts it. The origin story doesn’t seem to be available but this one works well in its own right, though I wouldn’t mind seeing the first one too

And then Black Widow (2021) which is one of those Marvel films that assumes you’ve watched a dozen others first and leaves you wondering what 90% of the background to the story is about if you had better things to do with your life. Wonder Woman managed to be a Marvel film without any such demands, so they can do it if they want to. I can only conclude that they can’t be bothered, which is a shame as most of the film is really good! I just wish I wasn’t frequently left feeling like I’d forgotten to do my homework

    Goodnight all

After dinner, I fancied a fillum. We have ended up watching Wrecking Crew on Amazon Prime. Very entertaining so far.

Tea has been lamb steaks with chips and beans

I didn’t get around to having any lunch as I wasn’t feeling particularly hungry, so I ended up just having a bag of salt & vinegar crisps in the afternoon

It’s started raining here. Shouldn’t last though, and it might be a bit brighter tomorrow.

HWMBO has made me a delicious breakfast of panettone done French toast style with caramel rather than the excessive sugar dusting you often see.

    Morning denizens

Grey day with a bit of a breeze, though the rain that passed by earlier seems to have been brief, and no more is expected other than a possible (50%) visitation this evening. Not too chilly at 6°C (which “feels like” 0°) with an expected high of 8°, while the barometers are heading back down at 977/985mB

I slept fairly well eventually, but not perfectly, and still feel tired despite awaking fairly late. The lurgy seems to be lingering a little, with a mild cough and occasional bunged-up nose, and passing headaches now and then

Having given careful consideration to the question of shopping, I’ve decided that I don’t need any, so I won’t bother

    Morning.

    Friday.

Poor night's sleep woken by a dream about a golem. 2 hours reading before returning to the land of nod. .

    Damply dry.

    Wanly sunny.

Chilly in here at 12.9 deg, 11.5 in the kitchen, 10 in the leanto.

983 mBar, 29 in Hg, 737.3 Torr, 14.257 psi, (down from 984 last night), 66% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 14th of March 2020 BR14, Brillo, and AndyGarbs popped in, whilst there was much discussion of "I am Leg End" between LM, NF, and me.

Walk (unabbreviated, towpath) walked in the sunshine.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: the craft thing at 11:45. youtube thing about how to get a stuck .38 bullet out of the barrel of a S&W686. Turns out it was two bullets. Gun was ok. Seemed quite a job getting the slugs out.

    Foyle's War S5 E3 "All Clear": May 2nd to 8th 1945.

    Sun's gone: it's raining.

Tea: Mr Brains faggots. Nice enough. Entertainment: PM. Book.

    The News Quiz.

Lost Wales: Hendrefoilan house, Swansea: burned down in 2022. National Milk Bars: one was frequented by The Beatles. Bronaber Camp, Trawsfynydd Artillery Range.

Taggart S6 E4,5,6. "Death comes softly". Och ye'll have had yer tea. The one with Russel "Lonely" Hunter appearing rather briefly.

    Morning all

Blue sky and wispy fluff. Currently 7 degrees ('feels like' 4) with a high of 10 expected. Risk of a light shower persists for much of the day. Barometer down to 989 mBar.

    Sunrise 07:43; Sunset 16:47 GMT

Sleepy this morning. Unsure whether I'm supposed to attend a meeting today. I'm either expected to turn up for the last half hour or not at all...

Heavy rain overnight, but the clouds were disappearing as we went out earlier, and it's now clear skies.

In Berlin, the Red Army has made its way to the Oder in about three weeks and established bridgeheads there. But then they had to get rid of the Germans kettled in East Prussia, which they did with great efficiency and exceptional brutality. Now they can turn their attention westwards again, and we all know how that ends

Meanwhile at Yalta, Stalin has run rings round Churchill and Roosevelt, which will be a problem for Poland, among other countries, for many decades to come

Friday tomorrow! I’m still not sure if I’m going shopping, but I don’t think there’s any need. If I do, it’ll only be a quick trip out to Not as Big Sainsbury’s

    Goodnight all

Tea: pork cutlet with chips and beans

This was accompanied by the remainder of the Inside the Factory Christmas special, meaning I can now move on to their less seasonal fare

And I’ve put the mundane laundry on. Doing this on Thursday evening seems to be becoming a regular thing, because it’s nice to have it out of the way for the weekend
