Meanwhile on the 16th of February 2020 there was much discussion of food from NF and BR14, LM popped in: apparently HWMBO had seen blue sky at one point, Doctor Who was mediocre, Endeavour was better (the rivers of blood one), and Homeland seems to have reappeared as a thing, though memories of same were dim due to the two years between seasons.

Entertainment: Infinite Monkey Cage: building an athlete again for some reason. Listened to that last time but couldn't be arsed to change it.

Shirts roughly iRoned & airing upstairs. So far, despite the forecast, it's been ok.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: Y&Y on buy to let.

Shopping trip to Aldi done dusted washed dried sanitised & put away. I had to reach far back on the shelf to get the stuff I wanted, which was half a cwt of dried cranberries.

grey start again out there and still very breezy, though the wind isn't as strong as it was. It'll try to be slightly warmer for the next few days, but may be foiled by the wind chill: our current 12°C "feels like" 5°, so presumably we won't feel the full benefit of the expected high of 18°. The barometers are up at 1001/1009mB

FedEx are bringing a delivery to me today, expected between 08:10 and 12:10. Shame they couldn't be bothered to put a map or something on their website so I have at least a rough idea of when it'll actually be; even a vague "delivering #23, you're #38" is better than nothing

There's been rainy spells today, and it still seems to be very windy out

Getting to sleep now in the hope the lurgy will have gone away tomorrow, or at least eased up a bit

Tea has been chicken in red wine sauce, with potatoes roasted in duck fat with Cajun seasoning, and peas

I'd forgotten I'd had the chicken and red wine the other day too, so that was the last bit out of the freezer. Oh well, it's nice; I'll just have to make some more

Not a bad afternoon in the end - I was left to my own devices, and the thing I was working on proved to be nice and simple to deal with

I've knocked off early because to complete it, I need to pick my colleague's brains about how some stuff works, and she said she was finishing early so could we look at it tomorrow

My accountant merged with another company a while ago and, in my usual manner, I did my accounts within a couple of weeks of year end. The new outfit has a 'client portal' for the secure upload of documents, etc. So I uploaded all the bank statements and trial balance.

About 10 days after I did that, some chap from the new company emailed me to say I needed to submit all my year end files. I replied that I had already done it. Three weeks, and three nudges, later I still haven't had a response to that initial reply.

Something tells me I'm not going to be sticking with this new accountancy firm for long if that's how things are going to run.

Group walk recce with 3 others and a stop at nice cafe by the reservoir. V rough water due to wind, looked like the sea. Then lunch at son's. Now back to f*** accounts!

After a weekend up in Surrey, it was nice to see the queues going the other way on the A303 as the tourist all head back to the rat race yesterday evening. A few heavy showers but a fast drive home.
Max had a great time running on Leith Hill and Ranmore.
Blue skies with some cloud and a bit of a breeze today, but at least the overnight rain has abated.
