still raining here, so our walk is delayed for a bit.

Tonight’s major motion picture premiere was Bad Boys (1995) which is OK but has that “Nobody in that position would do that” thing going on a LOT. I just realised that in many ways it’s borrowing from Lethal Weapon, so maybe that explains it. Anyway, it’s OK, but if you’re looking for social realism, it ain’t what you're looking for
And then the final three episodes of Hijack. It was supposed to be the next episode, but it’s so good that I couldn’t stop. Cracking stuff
Goodnight all

For tea tonight, I braved the bitter wind and went round to the kebab shop
It seems rain is about to arrive as well, so I’m glad that’s done and I can stay in here where it’s nice and warm

Quite nice sunny walk with ll1. Have yet to plan which restaurant to take her for her birthday. I really don't like restaurants much, food always a bit *** and portions far too big.

Greetings from Paris, local time 16:17. Gorgeous sunny afternoon here.
Currently 9 degrees, and that's the high for the day. Barometer at 997 mBar.
Sunrise 08:31; Sunset 17:35 CET
Just having a flump in the hotel, enjoying our welcome drink, before deciding what to do until dinner time.

Dentistry and shopping done!
The hygienist was a different one to the one I’ve seen for the last couple of years, but she was very good
Then onwards to be reminded of why I stopped going to Big Sainsbury’s on Saturday afternoons. I managed to get what I thought I probably needed, then set off home, only to be reminded of another reason not to go anywhere on Saturday: association football! Luckily I was ahead of the worst of it as the fans were only just starting to make their way there, but the traffic’s bad anyway on Saturdays. So it took me twice as long to get back as I’d expected, but at least when I did, my preferred parking space was still free
Time for lunch now. I fancy a cold roast chicken leg, so it’s a good job I got some

Morning all
Very stormy overnight, some of the electrics tripped earlier. I rest them, got the kettle boiled for a cuppa then took the dog out. They tripped again while I was out. Tracked it down to the circuit containing the summerhouse and the kitchen hob (no, I’ve no idea why they are on the same trip). Went to the summerhouse to find that there was water dripping from one of the wall sockets. Went to disconnect that socket from the wiring, only for one of the doors of the summerhouse to blow open and the pane in it smashed.

Morning denizens
It’s sunny out! Such clouds as there are have been scooting by pretty fast though so it seems to be windy too, at least higher up. It’s 6°C which supposedly “feels like” -2°, and aiming for 8° in the early afternoon; the barometers are up a bit at 981/989mB
Off to the dental hygienist in a bit, then onwards to Big Sainsbury’s

HWMBO and I are at Heathrow Terminal 4 for a flight to Paris. Just a quick overnight trip so he secures Flying Blue Platinum. Nice dinner and Sunday lunch planned.

Morning.
Saturday.
Restless night for some reason: including trying to remember my batphone number at about 04:30 for no readily apparent reason.
Some of the restlessness might have been due to the intermittently howling gale.
Wet.
Grey.
Sunless.
Windy.
Chilly in here at 12.9 deg, 12 in the kitchen, 10 in the leanto.
982.5 mBar, 29 in Hg, 736.94 Torr, 14.25 psi, (up from 978.5 last night), 66% RH (Lidl electric).
Meanwhile on the 13th of March 2020 covbob, AndyGarbs, eek, SimonMac, LondonManc, and LM popped in, whilst there was much sniffing & coughing in the computer room in the library in preparation for The Great Toilet Roll Hunt.
Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: book. News quiz. book. Other book. Book. Other book.
Bored with books: idiot lantern.
Bored with idiot lantern.
Walk (unabbreviated, towpath) walked in the sunny drizzle & semigale.
Book.
Tea: soup: fortunately the Right Soup this week after last week's incredibly uncomfortable Wrong Soup. Nice enough
Entertainment: PM. Book.
Look at Life: police dogs. Introduced after the war in about 1948.
Maigret: "High Politics (1962)": the one about the missing report on the children's home destroyed by a flood. By some fluke the number of fictitious children killed in the flood is the same as the number of children killed in the Aberfan disaster by a flood of filthy black coal waste.
Nothing else of note on the idiot lantern.
Book. Other book. Other other book.Last edited by DoctorStrangelove; Yesterday, 23:20.

In Stalingrad, the Russians have encircled the Germans, much to the surprise and dismay of the latter. And it’s still only the start of December! Plenty of winter to come yet…

Afternoon denizens
Another grey day, though not rainy, or not at the moment. It’s supposed to be a bit breezy but the minimal motion of the trees suggests that they may be exaggerating when saying the present 7°C, which is the high for the day, “feels like” -2°. The barometers are down a little more at 973/981mB

Afternoon all
Dull and damp again. Currently 8 degrees ('feels like' 6) with a high of 9 expected. Sunshine and showers apparently. Barometer down to 985 mBar.
Sunrise 07:52; Sunset 16:35 GMT
So much for a quiet day today. I was hoping to clock off about now but, no, more actual work required.
