No shopping happened in the end. Next week is Viz week, so I’ll need to go over to Big Sainsbury’s then; but in the meantime, I can use up a load of stuff in the freezer

As the devil makes work for idle hands, my lack of shopping activity led to me remembering that the interest rate on my Cash ISA with Halifax is crap. So I had a look on Martin Lewis’s site, and have arranged to transfer it to a Stocks & Shares ISA elsewhere. Sorry about the global economic collapse that will inevitably ensue

I also worked out what I was doing wrong with the RealityKit stuff, so that’s working again. Turns out reading the documentation properly rather than assuming you know how things work can be helpful

There’s a lovely full moon rising over the block opposite. Well, strictly speaking, it’s not full until tomorrow. But it looks full so that’ll do

Quite a bit of snow here. Road was covered in it this morning.

Lunch, unsurprisingly: turkey soup, with the thick crusts off the white loaf I baked the other week

The car is now snow-free at the front, but not at the back

I’m dithering over whether to go shopping or not. There’s some stuff it would be useful to get, but I’m also feeling rather lazy, and I don’t think there's anything I need to get

    Morning denizens

    Overnight snow!

Very little of it, though; just enough to give the windows of the cars a light dusting to make it a bit more inconvenient for me when I go shopping later

Right now, though, it’s a clear blue sky and will be sunny once the sun manages to get a bit higher. It’s not warm: currently -1°C (which supposedly “feels like” -6°, though I think they’ve overestimated the wind again) and not getting any higher than 2° even with the sunshine lasting all day. The barometers are trivially down at 994/1002mB

Last night, I chucked some bits of veg plus a roast turkey leg in the slow cooker and let it simmer overnight, so this morning I awoke to a delicious aroma spreading through the flat. The veg has now been blended and the meat shredded, along with some slices of breast meat, and the bones discarded; tendons and such appeared to have completely deliquesced overnight. So that’s now going to continue simmering for a few more hours on the way to becoming turkey soup

    Morning all

Blue sky with occasional lumps of fluff. Currently 1 degree ('feels like' -3) with a high of 4 expected. There might be some snow, although the weather app is forecasting a total of 0.05 cm to fall. Barometer steady at 1006 mBar.

    Sunrise 08:47; Sunset 15:55 GMT

Another quiet day beckons. My last before heading home tomorrow.

I was going to start a project of taking an interesting photo each day this year but am already off to a bad start as no photo was taken yesterday.

    Morning.

    Friday apparently.

Wet (as in it hammered down about 07:00).

    Sunny.

    Blue sky in parts.

Chilly in here at 11.6 deg, 9.5 in the kitchen, 6.5 in the leanto.

1006 mBar, 29.71 in Hg, 754.6 Torr, 14.59 psi, (down from 1007 last night), 58% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 9th of March 2020 Brillo popped in a lot, and LM commiserated with WTFH about his ski resort being closed.

As soon as I went out of the door for a walk the rain began.

    Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: Food programme.

Walk (unabbreviated, towpath, sunny) walked in the cold.

Now warming up by getting outside a mug of mediocre but consistent coffee.

Tea: chilli con carne etc. Nice enough.

Entertainment: last big of More or Less, followed by PM. <click>

Finished off the rather elderly claret. Made me fall asleep.

Found another ancient bottle, this time screw cap & Australian.

    Blaze: UFO bollox. .

    Blaze: more UFO bollox.

    5select: Taggart S5 E1 "Flesh and Blood (1989)". It's an Xmas ep. . FFS.

Finished There Is No Antimemetics Division v2. It definitely benefits from the rewrite, particularly in the final chapters

    Goodnight all

It’s a bug in the forum software, though I never have got to the bottom of it. But it’s something to do with the way it caches frequently used data along with the database getting overloaded; sometimes, it seems to lose the cache, and one of the side effects is that yellow thing plus the labels in the menu section at the top, under the logo, disappearing

I did get it fixed for a while by getting the people who run the infrastructure to switch to using Memcache. But then the new owner had to move it, and it came back

I get that yellow bar too sometimes. I'm sure it's a feature NF won't be carrying forward to the new version.
