There’s rumoured to have been light rain here, but I’m not convinced

In A Canticle for Leibowitz, six centuries have passed and though most of humankind is still happy to wallow in ignorance and tribalism, a few scholars have started to discover the treasured scientific manuscripts preserved by the monks of the Abbey of St. Leibowitz

    Goodnight all

I got rained on while walking back from the station after going to see White Rabbit, Red Rabbit.

At least that means I won't have to water the plants tomorrow.

9 wheelbarrows loads of stones moved from the drive down to the grid at the new sheds, followed by watching the last few episodes of season 2 of Schitt$ Creek.

Tea has been more Popeyes leftovers, mainly to get them out of the way and because it involved minimal effort

It’s clouded over quite a bit now, though the lightning seems to be staying further south. Might get some here in a bit if we’re lucky, though

Meanwhile on the lawn a few minutes ago, there were NINE magpies ditzing around in and near the flowerbed!

Most of them seemed like juveniles, so I’m wondering if our young ones have gone and formed a gang with the rest of the local posse

Getting warmer here but there’s a nice cooling breeze coming through the kitchen window

    Laundry is almost dry.

It's a nice temperature, with the little bit of breeze stopping it from being oppressive.

Meanwhile on the 31st of March 2020 AndyGarbs, Brillo, BR14, eek, LM, WTFH, and I popped in. WTFH's mrs had returned from The Important Meeting.

Sleep last night was somewhat intermittent: 04:00 was observed but returned to the land of nod eventually.

    Washing frenzy II in progress.

Shopping trip to Morrisons done Very Slowly due to the Bad Calf in the right leg. FFS. Now washed dried sanitised & put away.

A400M just flew over here, whilst a B52 was reported over Frome. .

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: something on R4.

Everything in off the line. That requiring the iRon has received its attentions & are airing here & there.

Those high clouds of earlier have turned into grey gloom: and now it's raining. Hot rain. which makes a change I suppose. .

Tea: chicken in white sauce etc. Nice enough. Entertainment: PM <click> TPTV "Look at Life: Letting off steam (1959)": the replacement of steam engines by diesel electric (diesel hydraulic in Western Region just to be different) and electric locomotives. It's getting very dark again, though the lightning site doesn't show anything imminent here.

Bit of Bab5 S1 E10. Not one of my favourites. Strewth, a lot of those actors have popped their clogs.

BBC4: "Treasures of the Anglo-Saxons": bloody immigrants.

Blaze: History's mysteries: 'Itler's lost gold. followed by one about JFK and the magic bullet. .

    Morning all

Blue sky with wisps and contrails. Gentle breeze wafting about. Currently 22 degrees ('feels like' 25) with a high of 29 expected. Barometer up to 1026 mBar.

    Sunrise 04:44; Sunset 21:23 BST

    Assorted clothings in the WM.

The delicate sound of angle grinders fills the air (the council doing its pavement works), joining the sound of aircraft leaving Heathrow.

EDIT: Thank you DrS for pointing out I'd picked up an OM. How times have changed

    Phew, what a scorcher.
    CBS, etc.
Currently 23C out, I should have gone out for our walk at 04:15, but didn't go until 05:30. Now cooling off at my desk with the blackout blinds drawn to stay cool.
One of the great things about WfH in this weather is "business from the waist up". It's definitely a day for shorts.

    Morning denizens

Sunny start, with mares tails across the sky doing nothing to filter out the dazzling rays of the sun. It’s 18°C already and expected to reach 28° by teatime; the barometers are up a little more at 1016/1024mB

There was more watery wildlife stuff on this afternoon

And later I watched the first episode of the new series of 24 Hours in A&E

But most of today has been spent trying to get Terraform working to deploy the stuff I need on AWS

    Monday again tomorrow

    Goodnight all

Tedious drive down to Sussex. I'm guessing a lot of people wanted out of London today.

Mum spent most of the afternoon complaining about a noisy bird that she said was making a ticking noise but to me it sounded more like a chuh chuh chuh noise.

The drive home was uneventful and I found a parking spot that wasn't under a tree.

The duvet cover was dry when I got back (I put it outside before I left this morning) and the WM has just finished with the mattress protector.

    Dinner will be Dishoom leftovers.

I assumed it was autocorrect so I kept an eye out when composing my post, and it tried to do the same to me!

Tea has been a pork cutlet with chips and beans, mainly because the beans have been sitting in the fridge for nearly a week so I wanted to use them up

Bit warm today; I’m not looking forward to the rest of the week. And we’re not getting it anywhere near as bad as London
