    Morning all

Cloudy but bright. Some damp on the ground. Currently 10 degrees with a high of 12 expected. Cloud will increase to give a dull and potentially damp afternoon. Barometer up a bit to 1008 mBar.

    Sunrise 08:05; Sunset 15:55 GMT
One whole minute more daylight than yesterday!

Working up to Christmas Eve. Undecided if I'll do a full or half day on CE.

I have to pop up to Waitrose for a few bits to take down to Mum's as I'm cooking Christmas Day lunch/dinner. But I'm not deranged enough to consider doing that on the 24th. And I have to go up to my storage unit to find a nice cake tin which is very close to Waitrose so I feel some form of coordinated effort might be helpful.

    Morning denizens

Grey day with a hint of mist in the air again. It’s 8°C and expected to be 9° for much of the day, with no rain anticipated. The barometers are again down but only barely so, at 996/1004mB

If I have the lurgy, it’s being fairly circumspect; I feel rather under the weather again, but nothing extreme. I remembered last night that I’d bought a new and, supposedly, better thermometer earlier in the year, so gave that a poke down my ear, and it reckoned my temperature was fine at 37.1°. This morning, just after I’d got up, it said 36.4°! And just now it was 36.9°. But I do feel as if I’ve got a bit of a chill going on. Touch of runny nose this morning too. Still, as long as it doesn’t get any worse, I daresay it’ll be all right

    Morning.

    Monday.

    Damp.

    Wanly sunny.

    Blue sky in parts.

Chilly in here at 13.6 deg, 12.5 in the kitchen, 11.5 in the leanto.

1001 mBar, 29.56 in Hg, 750.8 Torr, 14.52 psi, (up from 999 last night), 70% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 7th of March 2020 SimonMac and Brillo popped in, LM baked a cake and had "a cold", NF was thinking of baking a cake, and I was quoting "The Second Sleep" as prophesy whilst watching "1941" that rather completely unfunny filmic offering.

Tonight’s viewing was an episode of The Crash Detectives

And later in Into the Raging Sea, the captain has ordered a course change which has doomed the ship and everybody aboard, apparently to prove to them that he’s in charge

    Goodnight all

I’m feeling quite under the weather today. Hope I haven’t picked up some foul disease from an Amazon delivery or something. Just checked my temperature and the thermometer says 38.3°C which seems a little high

    It’s now raining out

    Evening all

It's been a dull day. Started out damp, got wetter. Currently 10 degrees ('feels like' 8) and that's the high for the day. Barometer down to 1005 mBar.

    Sunrise 08:05; Sunset 15:54 GMT

Today's visit to Mum's was uneventful. We put the little Christmas tree up. I had a go at getting her to write some cards but that caused her a lot of stress about who to send a card to, what to write, how to find their address, etc. so that was swiftly scrapped.

Lunch has been the croissants I forgot were there at breakfast time, with strawberry jam

It looked like it was going to brighten up here an hour or so ago, but now it’s gone all gloomy and misty again

Chilly in here at 13.5 deg, 12 in the kitchen, 10 in the leanto.

1002 mBar, 29.59 in Hg, 751.6 Torr, 14.53 psi, (up from 999 last night assuming I tapped it), 67% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 7th of March 2020 Brillo, BR14, WTFH, NF, LM and I popped in. LM had a cold.

    Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: my tinnitus.

Walk (unabbreviated, towpath) walked in the grey gloom.

"A look at life": xmas item production lines.

Tea: beans on toast etc. Entertainment: that R4 joining things up thingie: camels, the Black Death, Berlin, The Loch Ness Monster.

"The halfway house (1944)" with Glynis Johns.

Sergeant Cork S2 E4 "The case of the hangman's noose". Dunno what the fuss was about: they'd done away with hanging people for stealing hankies years before. .

    "Oppenheimer (2023)". Seems a bit slow. <click>.

    Book.

A happy Winter Solstice to all!

(It’s actually at 15:03 this afternoon.)

Grey day here, with a hint of mist. It’s 7°C again but no “feels like” is given, so it isn’t windy; the expected high is 9°. The barometers are nominally down but really much of a muchness at 997/1005mB

They deigned to give us some wildlife programming today, having apparently used up all their Christmas stuff too early

And later, I watched the final “making of” episode of Kingdom on iPlayer

Tonight’s reading has been Into the Raging Sea by Rachel Slade, about the loss of a container ship in the Caribbean in 2015: “Thirty-three mariners, one megastorm, and the sinking of El Faro
