Is it nearly time to start thinking about a CUK Christmas do?

    Morning.

Greyer, wetter, more depressing than yesterday.

Meeting at school first thing to try sorting primary to secondary transition for eldest. What fun. Now in the office - more fun.

    Demo went OK!

Last time, our team went last, so I assumed I'd have about an hour to think it through while other teams chuntered on about what they'd been doing. First thing I saw when I woke the work laptop was "We're going first!" Oh well, probably best to get it out of the way

    Morning all

Dull and overcast. Damp from overnight rain. Currently 15 degrees with a high of 18 expected. Rain may occur this morning and again mid afternoon onwards. Barometer down to 1016 mBar.

    Sunrise 06:40; Sunset 19:11

Today I will be taking yea olde jalopy to an air conditioning specialist to get the definitive verdict on what's needed to get the air conditioning working again. It's not worked for two years and it's this time of year when it's needed most. In the summer, I just drive with the windows open and cover the leather seats. In the winter, the car mists up and clearing the windscreen is a challenge. I know the clutch that operates the compressor has failed but I don't know if that one part is replaceable or if it's a "whole unit" job. An estimate I got over the phone in March suggests that it's going to cost north of a grand to sort out.

    Morning.

    Wednesday.

    Wet. Horizontally wetly drizzly.

Misty: can't see the other side of the valley, boyo.

    Grey.

    Sunless.

Cool in here at 18.1 deg, 18 in the kitchen, 17 in the leanto.

1007 mBar, 29.74 in Hg, 755.3 Torr, 14.6 psi, (down from 1013 last night), 70% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 17th of February 2020 AndyGarbs, opm, Brillo, and Churchill popped in, the latter with concerns about flooding down by 'ere, and his little lad had been away with the cubs, the water had drained from the bottoms of the gardens which was good, WTFH saw a patch of blue sky, as did I though it didn't last long, NF was reading a neurosurgeon's book, and I was wondering WTF "Homeland" had been about for S4, 5, & 6.

Freecell score in the endless drizzle: 85%, running average: 84%. Better than last night's 74%.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: the drone of the dehumidifier.

    Morning denizens

It's a rainy start after a rainy night, with a rainy morning ahead; and though it's supposed to stop raining at lunchtime, it'll remain windy. The rain is, in fact, just a bit drizzly at the moment, but will become heavier again shortly. It'll be slightly warmer though: currently 13°C (though it "feels like" 7°) and soaring to 20° for a brief spell this afternoon. The barometers are about the same at 1001/1008mB

Tonight's viewing was a bit of the Gloucestershire police thing

And one more Rumpole story has been read, leaving one more to go

Wednesday tomorrow and the end of our sprint/start of the next sprint, meaning a day filled with meetings. Ah well, at least I'm halfway through the week

    Goodnight all

Tea, eventually, has been a beef curry with rice and (just the one) mini naan. Turned out very nice in the end, and the additional half hour or so of vigorous boiling didn't seem to have done it any harm

I tried to make dinner in the InstantPot™ and, once it was heating up, left it to its devices. I had a quick glance now and again, and the time was counting down and everything seemed fine

Returning to the kitchen a few minutes before it was due to finish, I realised that the pressure valve had never popped up! So it hadn't been pressure cooking at all, just boiling the stuff

So I took the lid off and played with the valve, which seemed fine, and put the lid back on and stood there waiting while it heated up again. Except the boiling had reduced the liquid too much, so it started sticking to the base of the pan which triggered the sensor that stops it if that happens, so it doesn't burn

And so I added more water, and stirred and scraped until all the stuck stuff was off the bottom, and now it's finally heated back up and come up to pressure, and dinner will be about an hour late

At least I now know that it doesn't actually use a pressure sensor. Apparently, it starts the countdown based on the temperature it's got to and (I think) how long it's been at it for, as that should normally correlate with it having reached the pressure that forces the valve shut

Roast pork and apple sauce bap (wholemeal) for lunch

Still mainly cloudy out, but there have been sunny spells. The wind isn't as strong as it was, but it still seems quite breezy

Such deliveries as I was expecting today have arrived, so I can stop fretting over them and get some work done… oh wait, there are several meetings this afternoon

    Morning.

    Tuesday?

    Dry.

    Sunny.

    Blue sky.

    Calm.

Cool in here at 18 deg, 17.5 in the kitchen, 16 in the leanto, 14 in the saltinghouse.

1012 mBar, 29.88 in Hg, 759.1 Torr, 14.6778 psi, (up from 1007 last night), 66% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 16th of February 2020 there was much discussion of food from NF and BR14, LM popped in: apparently HWMBO had seen blue sky at one point, Doctor Who was mediocre, Endeavour was better (the rivers of blood one), and Homeland seems to have reappeared as a thing, though memories of same were dim due to the two years between seasons.

    Washing frenzy in progress.

Entertainment: Infinite Monkey Cage: building an athlete again for some reason. Listened to that last time but couldn't be arsed to change it.

Shirts roughly iRoned & airing upstairs. So far, despite the forecast, it's been ok.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: Y&Y on buy to let.

Shopping trip to Aldi done dusted washed dried sanitised & put away. I had to reach far back on the shelf to get the stuff I wanted, which wasn't half a cwt of dried cranberries.

Entertainment: Am Dro: Cardigan bay, Llyn peninsula, Pontypridd, Craig y Nos, Swansea valley: where Dame Adelina Patti lived long long ago. She had her very own railway station: I knew the chap who removed her very ornate lavatory when the line closed back in the 1960s. The woman whose walk that was is in Dexy's Midnight Runners: the classical viola player.

Pillowslips in off the line & roughly iRoned: now airing upstairs (needfully doing since still a bit damp).

    Tea: soup etc.

    Entertainment: PM.

Dial 999: the canal barge escape route one.

The mind of Mr J G Reeder: The Green Mamba. The snake makes a brief appearance. How many years is it since we've seen the Thames TV logo?

    Skin A&E: the Birmingham one.

The final minute of the final ep of Endeavour with the two Jags passing each other.
