The drives to/from Sussex were smooth and uneventful. Mum was quite chipper.

On returning home, I secured what I consider to be a good parking spot. No trees and easy to get out of.

The bed has been made and the smalls put away.

However, I also uncovered a problem with some threads, which seem to have become orphaned around the time we did the vBulletin “upgrade” to version 5. Not sure how that happened; there’s nothing obvious that they have in common. There are 104 of them, and now I have to work out how to get them back in their rightful places

Ah! Mystery solved

I found a DB dump from before the “upgrade” and used that to work out where one of the threads ought to be - and it turned out it had been merged with another thread! When I tried to visit it here on the live site, I was redirected to the appropriate point in that thread instead. So I now believe that the apparently-detached threads are just leftovers from merged threads, and haven’t been lost at all

I now need to check whether those redirects will continue to work, but I think that’s dealt with later in the migration, and they'll be a lot easier to fix up even if they aren’t and I have to do it myself

The last few hours have been spent digging through the post import stuff for the new forum software. Once I’d investigated it thoroughly, it turned out not to be too complicated now I’ve got the threads sorted out

The bed has been stripped and left to air while I drive down to that Sussex to see Mum. Bedroom window opened for extra airing.

Such a shame people don't properly maintain sash windows and only leave the bottom half functional.

Very lazy day today. I was suppose to give blood this afternoon but rescheduled it yesterday evening as I knew I couldn't be bothered. Will do it next week. Sorry to anyone who needs some O-.

I filled the washing basket with smalls to be washed but haven't got as far as putting them in the WM.

I started stripping the bed to air (I took the pillowcase and liner off one pillow) and decided I couldn't be bothered to do that either.

Grey day out again, and there seems to have been a spot of rain, judging by the general dampness of everything. It’s 7°C, as it so often seems to be nowadays, with an expected high of 11°, and the barometers aren’t much changed at 1012/1020mB

Meanwhile on the 19th of March 2020 Brillo, vetran, xogg, and NF popped in, with NF regaling us with pictures of his shopping & the emptiness of the shelving in the shops. He managed to get Viz though, so that was ok.

Our family has a set of new parents with their first baby. They are so pretentious, paranoid, overwrought. I can’t stand being around them. They suck all the oxygen out of the room. The baby got like thirty presents for Christmas. ******* revoltin

^^^Feck me I remember that: a pile of presents bigger than he was & now he's wearing a dress FFS. Not that I'm in any way judgemental of course, merely mental, like. . I had the apparently incorrect impression that I was the odd one. . But there you go. Snip snip & Bob's yer niece. .

On a happier note: his sister, my niece, has just had a baby, a little boy, 2 weeks early. Mother & son appear to be doing well. She's what my mother (a midwife) would have termed "an elderly primer", my niece being in her mid to late 30s.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: thing about the secretary of war, a right wing "christian" nutjob of the finest order.

Tea: beans on toast. Entertainment: some quiz or other on R4, followed by the 17 o'clock news and a thing about the vote that led to the fall of apartheid in South Africa.

Sergeant Cork. S3 E7 "The case of the dumb witness" (1964). The one with Warren Mitchell playing a rather effete owner of a tailor's shoppe. This one had Cork all the way through and no Marriot at all. Looked very like videotape in parts, the dropouts are unmistakable, with the odd bit of quadruplex funnies here and there. It had a very odd effect towards the end: dunno what might have caused that: can't remember what linear tape scratches look like.

Just discovered that I don't possess "The stars, like dust" by Asimov. And I have no recall of ever reading it. Or seeing it. I have "The end of Eternity" though, along with the original story which is included in "The original Asimovs" (1986), along with "Grow old along with me" which was turned into "Pebble in the sky" (which I don't have either).
