On taking the duvet cover out to swap for the fitted sheet, I noticed that a local flying rat had made a deposit on it. So that's now back in the WM.

Come in from gardening as it’s a bit hot and The Wife has an old friend from school visiting, so they are sitting outside while Max and I are staying cool in the shade.

First load done and out on the airers in the garden. A good blast of UV to help keep my bed sheets clean!

After doing my bit for Parkinson's research (see General), I then put the duvet cover in the WM.

    Afternoon denizens

It’s “mostly cloudy” here too, and also clearing later, but the clouds are lacking in substance with many gaps letting the blue sky show through. Warm day as well, being 17°C and rising to 19° towards teatime. The barometers are down to 1009/1017mB but judging by the 10-day forecast, this doesn’t presage any storms or whatever moving in

    Afternoon all

Another one of those sunny, cloudless days beckons. Although my weather app says it's currently 'mostly cloudy' but set to clear by mid-afternoon. Currently 16 degrees with a high of 20 expected. Barometer down to 1022 mBar.

    Sunrise 05:45; Sunset 20:15 BST

Bed has been stripped and left to air. The first load of laundry is in the WM. Looking forward to putting that outside to dry. I really should rig up a washing line.

^^^ Conclave III the assassination of Pope Donald. .

    Morning.

    Saturday.

Amazingly deep 2nd sleep this morning after the usual 05:15 awakening.

    Dry.

    Sunny.

    Blue sky.

16 deg in here, 15.5 in the kitchen, 14 in the leanto.

1016 mBar, 30 in Hg, 762 Torr, 14.736 psi, (down from 1017 last night), 60% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile onthe 25th of March 2020 Brillo popped in, along with LM, and SimonMac whilst on the 26th NF was watching the alternate ending to Leg End, I was watching rather a lot of Sherlock Holmes, and scruff popped in along with Brillo.

Walk (towpath, unabbreviated) walked in the unbearable heat of the sunny morning. Blue butterfly, orange tipped butterflies, small white butterfly, lots of ducklings.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: the News Quiz (again).

Back bedroom cleaning of the springs: 3 bookcases duly moved, vacced the carpet, vacced the books, dusted the shelves, put back together. That might be enough for today, it verging on "warm" up there now.

It must be said that yesterday's wegetable experiment didn't result in much increase in the effluvium which is odd, I'd have expected rather more than that which transpired. .

In one small step for a man the chest of drawers was moved out from the wall, cleaned behind, dusted, polished, the runners duly waxed, then put back all shiny like.

I'm only just about still strong enough to get the 2nd from the bottom drawer out & back, didn't bother with the bottom drawer it being far too heavy and awkward & I couldn't be arsed to empty it. Much dust & webs removed. Bedroom now stinks of wood polish.

In the event that I survive this undue exertion without any problem, the bed and wardrobe may receive similar treatment tomorrow.

    Dusty things, springs.

Tea: soup etc. Nice enough. Entertainment: PM.

Freecell score: 71%, running average: 84%.

Maigret S4 E5 "A man condemned (1963)". With dear old Philip Madoc playing a nasty man.

Holy Marvels with Dennis Quaid. More Blazian bollox.

Tonight’s major motion picture premiere was Bad Boys for Life (2020), being the third in the series; there’s another I am yet to watch. It was good enough, but I think the problem (for me) with these is that I keep forgetting I’m supposed to be watching all four of them. It was a month or more ago that I watched the previous one, and a few weeks separated that from the first one. So while they might be turning them out as if it’s a franchise, the films simply don’t have whatever it is that makes you eager to see the next one. I don’t recall having this problem with the Hunger Games, though I suppose that’s all one story; but when I set out to watch all the Dirty Harry films a few years ago, I didn’t keep forgetting about them, and they were also made as disparate stories over a number of years. So I suppose my conclusion is that the films are OK, but not as special as the studio would like us to think

After that, a rewatch of Conclave (2024). I don’t think even Hollywood would have the audacity to inflict Conclave II: The Popening on us, so we’re able to admire this quite excellent film in its own right

And finally, a further episode of Pluribus. Apple TV+ tried to confuse me by re-presenting the last episode I’d watched as unwatched, but it started with that cold open I talked about previously, so they couldn’t fool me. I had to fast forward to the end though, just to make sure it believed I’d watched it - well, I don’t know if I had to, but I did, because it’s never quite clear how to convince these robots of anything. Anyway, E5 was a very good one and ended on an excellent cliffhanger

    Goodnight all

Sorry about the will thing skb. I've recently done power of attorney. My eldest son said he will take me to the council tip and rent out my house for asylum seekers. I hope he was joking.

I should do as you command; if nothing else, it will stop my brother nagging me about it every time I see him

Did think to die intestate & nominate my useless nephew to sort out the chaos.

Trouble is it wouldn't be down to him/her/it, rather to his sister & my sister, so that idea has bitten the dust.

    Have a manly .

Only a few meetings, and no dramas. Just how I like it.
