Tonight's viewing, as was foretold, has been Battle of Britain (1969) and the BBC had, in fact, got a better print than Amazon had managed. IIRC Amazon had also somehow managed to mess up the subtitles, such that whenever there was a scene in German (and there are quite a few) it was necessary to turn off the closed captions in order to see the English translation in the open captions; I'm not sure how they managed that, as the BBC's copy appeared to have the open captions in the print itself. Anyway, it's showing its age a bit but it's still a pretty decent film
Later, another Rumpole story was read
Monday again tomorrow, but an interesting problem came up last Thursday that I'll get to work on (assuming the other developer didn't grab it on Friday) so I don't mind too much
I see Battle of Britain is on iPlayer, though only until Wednesday afternoon! I watched it on Prime a while ago, but it was a poor quality print with a lot of scratches and so on. I assume the BBC will give us something of better quality, so I might watch it again tonight
Funny coincidence, I had a prawn cocktail that was a day out of date for lunch. Expect we'll both be dead by tomorrow.
Just back from walk, discovered a permissive path I've not noticed before, that's tomorrow's walky planned. Been deluged with texts from loony lady 2 this morning, including apology. Suppose I'll have to put up with the old ratbag a bit longer. Off up to the village club shortly.
PS Anyone had this emergency alert thing on their phone? I ain't.
I'd probably be a bit warier of seafood, but if it tasted OK then you'll probably survive
I got the emergency alert at 15:01; somebody on Bluesky said they were in a pub and while some people got it bang on 15:00, others were getting it at thirty second intervals over the next few minutes. I suppose it makes sense that they can't actually hit everybody with it simultaneously
Its Use By date was yesterday, but it tasted OK so I'm sure I'll be fine

For lunch, a pork pie that I'd forgotten about until I found it behind something in the fridge last night. Its Use By date was yesterday, but it tasted OK so I'm sure I'll be fine
Meanwhile in here, the washer-dryer is now tackling bed linen
Well, that didn't take long!
Next up: duvet
The instructions say such things should have the air squeezed out of them first. So I chucked it in one of those vacuum storage bags and hooked Henry up to it, and there's definitely no air in it now
Sunny with high level wispy fluff. Currently 25 degrees with a high of 27 expected. Barometer down to 1016 mBar

Currently at the airport. Heading home via Paris, of course. Feeling well enough to travel but am still taking things easy. HWMBO remains in Madrid for a few more days to indoctrinate some more unlucky souls.
There's quite a bit of rather wispy cloud about but the sun's getting through the gaps and thinner patches enough for it to be considered sunny out, albeit in a slightly muted way. Going to be rather warm too: it's already 18°C and will get up to 23° this afternoon. The barometers are plummeting though: 995/1003mB

But for some reason they once again stopped the wildlife at six in favour of a documentary about Steve McQueen followed by The Great Escape
Nice hagiography. . Particularly the approach he took to The Great Escape. Rewrites to make his part bigger. Oooer, mrs.

Was about to go out for a walk, then the heavens opened, along with a few rumbles of thunder. Waiting for it to ease before we venture out.
