Tonight’s major motion picture premiere was The Running Man (2025) being, as the year would suggest, the new one, not the original. I assumed this would land somewhere between acceptable and garbage, so I was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be really good! Well worth a watch, I reckon

And then I decided to rewatch The Intern (2015) because I hadn’t in a while and I like it

Today, something turned up in the post addressed to somebody who doesn’t live here. This happened once before, then some stranger turned up and claimed it the same day. They aren’t getting it this time though; it’s going back in the post as “Not known at this address” and if somebody turns up asking for it, I’m inclined to shrug and say I gave to to the police and see how they react

The wind dropped a lot after sunset but I left the bedroom window ajar and it went down from 29°C to 24°. Still feels warm, but that’s definitely better

Tea has been steak and chips

To go with it, part two (of three) of the Boston marathon thing

As quick and simple a meal as possible as I’ve been in the living room all day and the rest of the flat is about 30°C, so I didn’t want to be out there any longer than necessary

It’s supposed to be down to 29° now and it’s also windy, so I’ll open the windows once it’s down another couple of degrees and with luck it’ll stay that way and blow cooler air through the flat

Other than that, it looks very nice out! Quite Simpsonesque

Guess what? Sunny, hot, unbearable!

To get into the details: having failed to dip any lower than 20°C overnight, it’s already 29° and will hover around 33° for most of the afternoon. But it’ll get down to 17° tonight, and tomorrow will “only” be 28° before heading for much more sensible low/high ranges in the low teens to low twenties next week

I awoke a little after seven and was thinking of getting up. But poor sleep quality caught up with me and I fell asleep again, waking once more at half nine

Meanwhile on the 31st of March 2020 AndyGarbs, covbob (new offer in hand), LM, NF (in mad shopping spree mode looking for lentils), vetran, and I popped in after a beetroot sandwich to take away the taste of the Heinz(tm) Sandwich Spread. .

Oh the relief: humidity is now down to 66% RH in here. And there's a nice breeze.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: "Discoverying Movies: The Orient Express". Hadn't seen (or don't remember ) that one before.

It no longer being May, and the front lawn looking like a jungle, the lawn has been strimmed & then mown. Hardwork. Every year I forget how hard it is.

Had to stop halfway through to have a cup of mediocre yet consistent coffee.

The bedroom was at 28.1°C but there’s an actual breeze getting through the window! So in the last hour or so, it’s gone down to 27.6°, which is still far too hot but an improvement

The interior of the flat now seems to be about 30°C or more everywhere, but the air conditioner is keeping the living room at no more than 25° so it’s bearable in here. No respite tonight, when it’ll get no lower than 20°; I thought of doing the early run to Not-as-Big Sainsbury’s, but it’ll already be 24° or higher by 8am so I’m leaving it

At least I remembered to buy ice cream in advance this time. Might have some of that in a bit
