Afternoon denizens

It’s a sunny day, again, but the drift towards slightly more bearable temperatures starts today! It’s just reached today’s peak of 28°C which is as high as it’ll be for a week, though it’ll still be in the upper-to-middle twenties until next weekend, after which it’ll drop to the very low twenties. It’s breezier too, which will help with moving the warmer air out of the place. The barometers are still being rather contrarian, having risen to 1011/1019mB

A few wisps here and there and a bit of a breeze ruffling the tree tops. Currently 28 degrees with a high of 30 expected. Barometer up to 1021 mBar.

Lazy morning. The bed has been stripped and left to air. Hopefully I can get it all laundered and dried before bedtime.

Managed to under season an omelette I made for breakfast, and I was too lazy to go back into the kitchen to fix it. Disappointing.

Meanwhile on the 1st of April 2020 AndyGarbs, BR14, covbob, LM, NF, and vetran popped in.

Walk (abbreviated, 2 miles) walked in the unbearable heat of the morning. Some Fast & Furious contestants observed along with shedloads of MAMILs. Things one sees when out without a gun. .

Now getting outside a mug of mediocre yet consistent coffee. A bit early in the day for it, but needs must & all that.

Right leg now complaining a bit. Ho hum. .

And, as usual, dozed to the strains of "Pulse" followed by "Comfortably Numb" off the 1980/81 live cd, then "Comfortably Numb" off Delicate sound of thunder cd. The Pulse version is by far the best: the 1980/81 version is meh, with the version off DSOT being a little better, plus it doesn't have Waters on it, which can only be for the good.

Tonight’s major motion picture premiere was Juror #2 (2024) in which the eponymous juror realises that he knows something not in evidence that could sway his fellow jury members towards the correct verdict, but can’t reveal it. This is an excellent premise and was only let down by the fact that the prosecution case was laughable. It seemed more like an example one might give to twelve year olds with the goal of finding as many reasons for doubt as they could in two minutes, in the confident belief that they would find them all. But this was supposed to be the real case and all the defence managed was vague nonsense. I can see now why so many people on American legal Twitter (it was before we all moved to Bluesky) were so scathing. But it’s a decent enough film if you set all that “making any legal sense at all” stuff aside

After that, a rewatch of Spielberg’s War of the Worlds (2005). It was quite a while ago that I last watched this - pre-pandemic, I reckon - and it’s excellent

And then a further episode of Silo which I must admit I’d almost forgotten about, but that’s me, not it, and it easily pulled me back in. Very good stuff

Nice old fart history thing this morning. Exciting (NOT) afternoon doing more shed repairs. Checked my new house insurance and found I'd typed in value of £56600 instead of £566000. Had to pay an extra £37, oh well not too bad. Dunno where you'd get a 4 bed detached house for £56k, Sudan maybe.
