Tea has been a Sainsbury's microwave chicken chow mein, and I can assure the Chinese takeaways of this world that they have nothing to fear from that particular form of competition

Meanwhile at ClientGov, a call has gone out on Teams asking people to come into the main office tomorrow if they can. Turns out there's a possibility a new minister could be appointed by mid-afternoon, and there's a tradition of the staff lining the corridors to "clap them in". Of course, almost nobody works in the office all week any more, and not many people at all go in on a Friday. So I gather they're worried that the new Secretary of State will turn up to be greeted by a few security guards, a cleaner, and the cat

Out has been popped to, specifically, Lesser Sainsbury's as I didn't really need much. However, I had good Nectar prices available to me on a number of non-perishable or long-lived items that I buy fairly regularly, so I was able to stock up on those and save a few quid

Nice sunny evening out, though with quite a lot of cumulus floating around. The wind is still there but has settled down quite a bit compared to earlier

Suppose I'd better make the bed, then sort my tea out - though the latter will be easy as I decided I couldn't be bothered cooking and got a ready meal

That's me done for the week!

Need to pop out and do some shopping, once the rush hour has had a chance to subside

A developer has created a flat file for me that then goes to another system. It's a .txt file. A flat file, no commas, no delimiters, all data is aligned to be in a particular location on each line.

The other system is managed by one of Murthy's finest.
He has complained that one of the "fields" is formatted as a number.

New one on me that a flat text file contains formatting for characters in particular locations.

The mattress is airing, as I feel that my efforts to eject the government this morning should be rewarded by clean sheets at such time as I finally get around to going to bed tonight

    Polling station visited, duty done

I had a brief moment of confusion when I couldn't find my ID in my wallet. Turned out it was still in my coat pocket from the last election

Anyway, it's quite nice out, though already very breezy. Now to have my cob reward

My civic duty was done via post before I moved house for a constituency I no longer live in.

    Morning all, Heathrow calling

Looks bright and dry out. Currently 13 degrees with a high of 19 expected. No rain forecast.

Arrived without incident, landing just after 6am following the need to circle over Epsom waiting for the airport to open. Transfer nonsense done and have been relaxing in the Concorde Room waiting for the flight up to Glasgow. The aircraft is coming in from Bologna and isn't due in until 0915.

The cabin crew only get one night in Barbados but the flight crew get two nights. Our pilots had four nights because of Beryl but the cabin crew arrived the day the airport reopened.

Indeed! I'm off to the Hindu temple round the corner (well, three corners) to vote shortly, returning home via the bakery where I shall treat myself to a bacon cob as a reward for doing my civic duty

    Morning denizens

Sunny start, though not for the Conservative and Unionist Party, on whom the sun is already setting. Currently 11°C and expected to reach 18°, but getting a bit blustery too. The barometers are down a touch more at 996/1003mB

    Morning.

Thursday: vote early & vote often. .

    Dry.

    Sunny.

    Blue sky.

Cool in here at 19.0 deg, 20 deg in the kitchen, 17.5 deg in the leanto.

1006 mBar, 29.707 in Hg, 754.56 Torr, 14.59 psi, (untapped but looked like 1004 last night), 78% RH (GDR hair), 65% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 16th of October 2019 WTFH was waiting for a Social Marketeer whatever that is, whereas NF was watching yet more S5 eps of Breaking Bad before going to bed "early", while I was ranting about some prog with Michael Portillo & assorted scum, in particular ******* Farage and Bliar stating that I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire, an opinion that's failed to change since then, on the 17th it proved to be fragrant in with the hoi polloi in the library.

I'm off down to that Swansea later to join a mothers meeting of s at Ye Newe Sloughe of Desponde down by Ye Dockes. I feel sure I'll catch yet another version of the chinese plague, either on the bus or in the caff.

Mothers' meeting done. X7 down, T6 back. Free coffee had. More John LeCarre books purchased in the endless search to have a complete set to read again, though half of them I've never heard of since they were written after the wall came down.

Still haven't found "A small town in Germany" or "The night manager".

Looked in Oxfam and they didn't have "Foundation" but did have the other two: "& Empire" and "Second", both of which I have along with the doors stops he wrote later.

Unfortunately I now have more books than when I started out this morning. But the collection of LeCarre tomes is proceeding.

    Lunch: beans on toast etc.

Following on from the demise of the kettle, and the demise of the motherboard sound on the pc, the toaster now seems to be getting temperamental.

Entertainment: some distopian play on R4 about "Olivia", being some sort of AI Siri type thing.

This fecking chromebook keeps forgetting it's got a keyboard. It's really irritating.

Tea: chicken in white sauce etc.

    Entertainment: PM.

Veronica Mars S2 E12. The one where she bugs the confessional.

The final two eps of "Buried" on iPlayer or whatever the feck it's called.

    Veronica Mars S2 E13

No further telly tonight, but a lot of stuff read on Twitter, largely crowing over how things will go tomorrow

Speaking of which, tomorrow is my last working day of the week!

Same for the Secretary of State I believe - well, last working day in the department in her case

    Goodnight all
