No further communication was received, so I spent the afternoon occasionally reading some docs which may possibly be relevant

And as the rain, which has been persistent if often drizzly all afternoon, had stopped, I popped round to the pharmacy to collect the monthly prescription

Somebody who I gather is my new Delivery Manager finally popped up on Slack to ask if I was back at work. I assured them I was, and have heard nothing more

So I had lunch: chicken, tomato and lentil soup (herby) with a crust of wholemeal

    Afternoon all

Wet and windy today. Showers started in the wee hours and have continued off and on so far today. Allegedly no further rain forecast. Currently 16 degrees with a high of 17 expected. Barometer down to 1002 mBar.

This morning HWMBO and I went over to Costco in Hayes for a mooch about. He recently joined and got a card for me on his account. Their tyre prices are cheaper than Black Circles, which is handy.

    Back to work and… nothing

There's nothing in my Inbox telling me what I should be working on or who I should be working with. Nobody's been in touch on Teams or Slack. My calendar is empty except for a Tuesday meeting related to the old project which couldn't be deleted because the person who set it up left months ago, and the standard departmental stuff. And my contract manager is OoO on some training thing until Thursday, though she doesn't work on Friday so that means all week

I suppose I should ask around to see if I can find somebody who might know what I'm supposed to be up to

Once it gets to 12:46, I can invoice for a full day…

Funny coincidence. Wordle and the Telegraph PlusWord have the same answer. Dunno wot 2 do 2day. Tired, low & grumpy. Ted Bundy had fun, maybe I'll try that.

PS Or maybe I'll just get on with repainting in the kitchen. Don't think you get executed for that.

    Morning.

    Monday.

    Dreary.

    Grey.

    Sunless.

    Damp.

    No current precipitation.

    No gale.

Chilly in here at 15.5 deg, 16.5 in the kitchen, 14 in the leanto.

998.5 mBar, 29.485 in Hg, 748.9 Torr, 14.48 psi, (up from 993 last night), 75% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 17th of November 2019 the viewing of S5 of BTVS was approaching its end, celebrated with an individual Xmas pud & custard, whereas NF had roast lamb & all the trimmings.

    Morning denizens

Rainy grey start, and expected to continue much the same. Kind of warmer though, being 12°C aiming for 15°; but that 12° feels like 5°, apparently. The barometers have plunged back down, to 988/995mB

I had a patchy night's sleep, but managed to drag myself out of bed and get started on preparing myself for the day. I'm not sure how work will be, given that I'm joining a team for an ongoing project doing rather different stuff; either I get a mellow few days to familiarise myself with what's going on, or I get thrown in at the deep end and have to work it out as I go along. I don't really mind either way, as long as I don't have to think about the previous project at all

Lots of Monkey Life this morning

This afternoon's helpings of US borders and Antipodean roads policing were repeats though, so didn't get much attention

And this evening, a new Saving Lives in Cardiff and old 24 Hours in A&E

The latter was first shown in July 2022 so I assumed I would have seen it before, but I didn't remember it.

More rain has happened as predicted, and it's also getting very windy

Time for bed now (it having been remade earlier) as I have to be up for work tomorrow - well, I assume I do, as I haven't heard anything to the contrary

    Goodnight all

Tea: lamb cutlets with chips, peas and gravy

There was a bit of rain earlier and it seems likely there'll be more of it, perhaps heavier, overnight and tomorrow

    Evening all

Sunny but cloudy today. No rain but some forecast later this evening. Currently 13 degrees and the high was 15. Barometer down to 1013 mBar.

HWMBO and I visited Mum. No dramas although she did accuse my brother of stealing a teaspoon.

Lunch has been a bacon bap (white) again

The bed is airing and a bedding wash is on, as I decided a nice comfy clean bed would be conducive to a decent night's sleep ahead of the resumption of remunerated labour tomorrow

Though the morning I'm really looking forward to this week is Tuesday. That's when the mortgage payment would come out of the bank, and it appears from anecdotal online sources that the Halifax can be a bit slow about cancelling the direct debit and then even slower about refunding the overpayment. I'm not really bothered about the money as such, just curious to see whether they've improved this aspect of things as the anecdotes are from a couple of years ago, or older

It was fairly sunny not long ago but is clouding over, and apparently it'll get windier later too. On the cooler side again at 9°C (feels like 5°) and aiming for 14°, with the barometers down the tiniest bit at 1010/1018mB

Today there was a bunch of Monkey Life and then assorted other wildlife stuff, though I suspect the latter is sliding into endless repeat territory now - unless the wild dog thing is a new series, which I don't think it is

No other telly this evening, but I finished reading Burmese Days

And now it's time for bed, as I have to be up early for more Monkey Life tomorrow

    Goodnight all
