Tea was brought to me from KFC

Well, eventually. The chap must have made at least two other deliveries on the way. He gave me some flannel about having had to wait ages because the place was so busy on a Saturday night; he apparently didn't realise that the app told me when he picked it up and that he was making other deliveries on the way, or that when it was my turn next and the map appeared, it showed him outside an apartment block in the city centre which is well off the beaten track from KFC to here

Still, he’s just an old bloke trying to scrape together some kind of a living by driving round delivering people's dinner on a Saturday evening, so fair enough if he tries to cram in a load of orders all at the same time

She (still) drives beautifully. Had quite a bit spent on age related issues this year but it'll keep her running for a good while more.

Usual incredible luck with weather. Spent 3 hrs doing footpath inspections, dry and mostly bright. Then rain started 5mins after I got back to the van.

Cool in here at 17.3 deg, 16.5 in the kitchen, 15.5 in the leanto.

997 mBar, 29.44 in Hg, 747.8 Torr, 14.46 psi, (was 995 at 09:15, was 989 last night), 66% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile onthe 27th of February 2020 Brillo and AndyGarbs popped in, as did eek the bug finder, WTFH, and LM.

In other other news next door's roofer chap turned up and there was hammering and such like activity. No idea WTF he did but he's gone now.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: FOOC. Bit of Moneybox <click> Who'd have thunk some scumbag life assurance company would cancel a policy you've paid into for years. .

Walk (unabbreviated, towpath) walked in the sunshine until 200 yards from home, whereupon the heavens opened, only to close again as I walked in through the back door.

Tea: beans on toast. Meh. Low salt & sugar crap. Dire mistake that one.

Entertainment: Maigret "The Golden Fleece (1961)".

How odd: I suddenly missed my very late cat. I wonder where that came from.

Just had a small bowl of beef & Guinness stew for lunch. The flavours have developed nicely with a night in the fridge

Well I'm glad I decided to go and collect it earlier in the day.

The Metropolitan Line was on the wonk and it took a good 2 hours to get to Croxley. Then it started raining on me as I started the walk from the station to the trading estate.

However, on arriving at the garage, my baby car looked better than it did 17 years ago when I first bought her. They had done an amazing job. Expensive but I think worth it.

Afternoon all

Much rain overnight. Today started off sunny, then went cloudy, then clear sky and now occasional fluff. Currently 15 degrees and that's the high for the day. Rain due from late afternoon. Barometer still at 1002 mBar.

As I couldn't use CUK forums, I did laundry and prepped my Q1 accounts for the purpose of doing my VAT return. That reminds me, I need to chase my year end accounts.

I forgot to strip the bed for airing. I'll do that tomorrow before I visit Mum.

It’s looking quite Simpsonesque here today, though perhaps in reverse as the clouds seem to be massing rather than dispersing. It’s 12°C, with the high of 13° already just a memory, and the barometers are much the same at 988/996mB. Looks like there may be some rain around teatime - which is now after sunset!

God knows what's going on here now. I assume this will get posted one way or another. Probably end up stuck to the bottom of the first ever thread in General, given that it's the first thread on the board

I just happen to know this because I was looking through (a local copy from a few years ago of) the database today. Change is a-coming! And I've been asked to help work out how the hell to make it happen. So with luck, we'll soon have something that works again

Tonight's major motion picture premiere was 28 Years Later (2025) which I thought was very good. Lots of quite disturbing stuff in there, but that's what it's all about!

I didn't plan for it to be Hallowe'en when I watched that, it just worked out that way

But in that spirit, I then rewatched Late Night with the Devil (2023). Great stuff this, with spot-on 1970s design and the perfectly paced transition from Larry Sanders humour into deep horror

And then more of Alien Earth because it seems to be picking up a bit: Metamorphosis (TV Episode 2025)
