Tonight's major motion picture premiere was Poor Things (2023) in which a young woman is brought back from the dead by a peculiar doctor and… well, you'd have to watch it to understand what goes on, but it's a very peculiar kettle of fish. Well worth the price of admission though, which in my case was a Disney+ subscription; other modes of access are available
And then I rewatched The Accountant since it must be a week or two since I last watched that, and then a couple more episodes of S3 of The Wire
Goodnight all

Tea has been Sainsbury's Sweet & Spicy Pork Ribs™ and chips. Nice enough flavour to the ribs though a little lacking in character, as I suppose is inevitable for a recipe that will have had to pass numerous focus groups before permission was granted to bring it to market

I unmade the bed at lunchtime and left it to air - a proper airing with the bedroom window open. And I just remembered to remake it, thus avoiding an unpleasant surprise later
There's been occasional unforecast rain here too but it's hinting at the Simpsonesque now, a little late in the day

^^ for holiday
A very productive afternoon had. I fathomed the thing I needed to do on Power BI and am happy with the result.
There has been much intermittent (unforecast) rain. Interspersed with lovely sunshine.
My landlady is trying to screw me over on a rent increase, pleading poverty and demanding a change of terms.

Lunch: pâté on toast
Bit of rain this morning
Much excitement earlier when I heard voices in the hall outside my flat door. Looking through the peephole, I saw people being conducted into the flat across the landing by what may have been an estate agent
I was under the impression the flat had sold, as it disappeared from RightMove, Zoopla, and the estate agent's site. But a search showed it reappearing on all three, so maybe the sale fell through? I notice that, unlike many listings, this agent hasn't mentioned up front that subletting is strictly prohibited, so it's possible they were trying to flog it to somebody who wanted to BTL and who was eventually convinced by their conveyancer that they were on a fool's errand

Morning all
Dull and overcast. Some spits of rain but officially no rain forecast until this evening. Currently 12 degrees with a high of 14 expected. Barometer down to 1017 mBar.
In the hairdressers this morning, getting the greys painted over.
Octopus Energy just emailed me to say they reckon my monthly payments should be £653 a month rather than the £210 I currently pay. I sent a strongly worded email back advising that there is no way I use £7800 worth of energy a year and could they check if the calculations were factoring in their directors desire for a new yacht.
Grumpy now.

Morning.
Friday.
Grey.
Sunless.
Gloomy.
Chilly in here at 13.2 deg, 12.5 in the kitchen, 13 deg in the leanto.
1017mBar, 30.03 in Hg, 762.8 Torr, 14.75 psi, (down from 1018 last night), 77% RH (GDR hair), 70% RH (Lidl electric).
Meanwhile on the 19th of September 2019 there was discussion on Theremin's "The Thing", engineering mistakes on the 737Max, "Mr Holmes" being set in 1947, and NF's revised schedule of cleansing for his hearing aids following the pustulent ear episode of some weeks prior.
Walk (unabbreviated) walked in the grey gloom & drizzle.
Lunch: beans (cheesy) on toast etc. plus some stewed gooseberries.
Entertainment: the last 7 minutes of the Y&Y replacement bollox about cycling etc.
Freecell score in the rain: 86%, running average: 86%.
Sun's out.
Veronica Mars S1 E14 "Mars vs Mars": the naughty teacher one. Statue. Tory. Rape. as someone (Neal Washington) once said to JD Larue.
Tea: breaded cod (or haddock) etc. Nice enough. Managed not to cook it to death.
The Mentalist S2 E17 "The Red Box". The stolen Cleopatra's ring one. That chap that used to be on Taggart turned up (he was also in BTVS & Angel IIRC).
Curse of the Ancients: Alice Roberts on the end of the Roman Empire. I wonder if I'll snore by the end of this one.
Nope. went <click> after 20 minutes: read book instead.
Ancient Murders Unearthed: partial skeleton of an 800 year old Scot. Mildly diverting. Not as good as last week, it being difficult to find a culprit after 800 years.
Cursed Treasures: Hell Creek, South Dakota. Tyranosaur called Sue: chap got gaoled for 2 years for no readily apparent reason. King Tut's curse. <click> Too bolloxy even for me.

Couldn't drag myself out of bed early enough for the usual walk, so only managed just over 6km this morning, but that means I've done 200km of dog walking so far this month.

Morning denizens
Grey start out, being a proper overcast this time, and a bit breezy with it. Currently 8°C, which is a milder start than yesterday, but only getting up to 12°. The barometers are back down a bit at 1003/1011mB

A few more chapters of Julia read
Time for an early night now. Not only is it Friday tomorrow, it's also my last day of work for a week! So the sooner it gets here and gets done with, the better
Goodnight all

Tea: steak pie, being the one with Hobgoblin stout gravy that I made the other week. Still got a few more portions left in the freezer
Accompanied by another old Police Interceptors
I started messing around with the emoji ring stuff, but I can't really be bothered. So I'm going to read my book instead

Evening all
It's been a sunny but cloudy day today. Currently 13 degrees and the high was 14. Barometer up again to 1021 mBar
This morning the landlady came round to look at few things that need maintenance. Forgot to mention the continuing issue with the gas hob that she keeps sending someone to fidget with but they never actually fix it. After that, I faffed a bit. Then arranged and had a call with a chap about a job. Then worked on that dashboard I mentioned yesterday.
I need to figure out how to transform a table that's built for user friendly input into one that will render the required chart in Power BI. All the other tweaks have been made so I ought to be done with it tomorrow.

Lunch has been sausages in finger rolls; very nice
Cloudy out now, but it's that sort of thin high stuff rather than a gloomy overcast
The chap who mows the lawns is busy lawnmowing. The big one has been done, so now he's going around doing all the little ones. One of the magpies has been down bimbling around on the big one over near the hedge, and the newly-trimmed state appeared to meet with its approval
