Morning denizens
Cloudy out, though a few tiny gaps are showing blue here and there and there’s a chance of sunny spells. No sign of rain, and the wind seems to have eased up more than the weather app is willing to admit, as it claims it’s gusting up to 19mph while the trees all stand there unmoving. It’s getting colder this week though: currently 8°C (“feels like” 4° because of those gusts that don’t seem to be happening) with a high of just 9°, while there are several overnight frosts predicted through the week, and even a chance of snow on Thursday! The barometers are up a little more at 1002/1010mB

Morning all
Overcast and dull, damp. Currently 9 degrees with a high of 11 expected. Barometer up to 1011 mBar.
Sunrise 07:21; Sunset 16:21 GMT
Our mosey home yesterday was via Borough Market and a Carribbean restaurant for lunch. The tube lines were very busy, probably on account of the Lizzy Line being out of action.
Heading down to visit Mum today. I am mildly stressing about what she may have gotten up to while left alone for a few days. I have packed a variety of foodstuffs to take down.

Washing frenzy in progress.
Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: the dehumidifier droning away along with some drilling on the party wall from next door. Do tenants usually drill on the party wall? Just askin' for a friend, like.
. It wasn't a small drill either.
Shirts, though slightly damp, duly iRoned & airing upstairs.
Entertainment: The Infinite Monkey Cage S1 UFOs.
Walk (abbreviated, towpath) walked in the grey gloom.
Washing frenzy complete with a small contribution from the TD.
Tea: beans on toast etc. Entertainment: The Infinite Monkey Cage S1 E3 Quantum Physics.

Overcast but breezy out - not that we’ve been further than the garden yet. Plan for the day is to walk the dogs, edit photos, get dinner ready and wait for my wife to return from her jaunt. Side tasks may include a bit of gardening.

The usual, though much diminished, wildlife offering today was supplemented by the first episode of Kingdom on iPlayer. It’s very good; I found it rather amusing that I already knew the leopard from another wildlife programme, and also the matriarch of the African wild dogs, which have previously had their own series
Later, I read some more of Elvissey
Goodnight all

Felt like a burger for tea tonight, which was duly brought to me from Five Guys
Rain’s back, though not to anything like the same degree

Meanwhile on the 29th of February 2020 Brillo, BR14, and eek popped in, whereas LM said she couldn't get a dead body in the boot of her car.
Shopping trip to Morrisons done dusted washed dried sanitised & put away.
Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: bit of Moneybox, bit of the comedy thing.
Walk (unabbreviated, towpath) walked in the wan sunshine.
Tea: soup etc. Nice enough.
Entertainment: PM <mostly about the lying Moronic Orange Clown: click>.
Stone me: one of the FB "abandoned houses" was obviously owned by a geek: Hitachi databooks, Crash Barrier Metai Cross Assembler instruction manual, oscilloscope, powersupply, test meter, and a couple of electronic breadboards. First time I've seen any such items abandoned. It's in that Scotland so too far away to go & look.
Maigret "The Liars (1961)". The one where the post mistress gets shot.
WWII in Colour: The Pacific War 1943.
History's Mysteries. Jack the Ripper.
Dear old Adolph's DNA on 4+1. I wonder if they've ever tested The Orange Moron's DNA: his upbringing seems to parallel Adolph's.
Arctic Coldwar thing on Alba. Showed the inside of the Greenland base in the ice. And covered some of the Swedish proposed nukes. And, of course, the Tsar Bomb and the fallout therefrom. Tis no wonder our Boomer bones glow gently in the dark.Last edited by DoctorStrangelove; Today, 00:28.

Dinner last night was fab, and I left feeling thoroughly stuffed. Mr Todiwala apologised for overfeeding me
. Apparently it was the 30th anniversary of Cafe Spice Namaste, and that was the reason for the special event.
HWMBO and I are currently breakfasting in our hotel before we start the slow meander home.

Tonight’s major motion picture premiere was going to be The Firm but a few minutes in, I started to suspect that I’d seen it before. So I hied myself to the study and did a SQL query on a local copy of the forum database that I have from the last time we “upgraded”, and found that I had, back in 2017
However, this reminded me that we used to be able to search content in links, such as IMDb identifiers, and this wasn’t supported by the current garbage. So I’ve added it to the list; the new search system will support that, whether it already can or not
With that matter dealt with, I moved on and watched The Creator (2023) in which the USA fights a war against AI and robots, though the rest of the world doesn’t agree. Good stuff, I thought; I occasionally got distracted by thinking about how to implement a shader for certain effects, but that’s just me, and I reckon I worked out the most important one. Good film, and I’ve added that effect to the list of things I should try to implement
After that, a rewatch of Phone Booth (2002). Such a good film! I saw an uptick in online chatter about how good it is a few months ago, which is why it came to mind, and yes, it’s great
Finally: S1E4 of Alien: Earth, Observation (TV Episode 2025) in which the plot continues to thicken, as plots do
Somebody I follow on Bluesky has just had open heart surgery. I warned him that he should try to avoid sneezing for the next couple of months, and hope for his sake that he follows my advice
Goodnight all
