And then yet more tinkering with Swift. I haven't really got the hang of the way the language uses optionals yet, but at least I got around to implementing a SwiftUI ViewModifier, which is one of those things that's quite straightforward to understand in the abstract yet one somehow feels one understands better after implementing even a very simple one

Didn't get around to reading any of my book, again. But there's a long weekend coming up, and I'm off the week after that, and maybe for longer if we get this project shut down by then and I decide to take a few weeks off before starting anything new, so I'll find time for it

Walk (greatly abbreviated due to ongoing and : plus there was some vehicle with flashing lights on the lane up the hill to the res) walked in the grey gloom and bracing wind.

Lunch: breakfast.

Entertainment: more of the not very funny Sledge Hammer. It looks very much as if it's in the territory of Things best left as Memories.

Since I felt a bit : I "watched" dear old Bob doing his painting thing on Sky Arts. Very restful.

Tea: beans on toast (the bread hasn't turned blue yet but it can't be long).

Raining.

Entertainment: The Seabees in the Pacific. Iwo Jima looked like a nightmare.

Anything else I can find though it seems somewhat thin.

I attended a webinar about titivating CV's and LinkedIn profiles.

Jobs at varying levels applied for. A role at Aldermaston looks interesting. Junior but a foot in the defence door could be worth pursuing.

Tea has been one of my homemade lamb burgers (incorporating fresh green and red chilis) on a brioche bun with ketchup, and fries. Very nice, and rather zingy

The AGM went much as expected. Apparently there have been problems with people who don't live here parking on our drive during the day, leading to discussion of gates, permits, and private parking enforcement. Some older bloke who's lived here for years mentioned that this has come up several times before over the years, and he didn't seem to think much would come of it. The gates probably aren't going to happen because, as the chap from the management company pointed out, people here get so many deliveries, and some of the older residents in particular would find it tricky to have to head down to the gate every time Wiltshire Farm Foods or Amazon turned up

I'm here all day and there often seem to be hardly any cars out there and plenty of room, so I'm not sure it's worth bothering about for now

Some of the garage roofs may need replacing over the next year or two as well, though I don't know if mine is one of those affected.

It's actually terraform destroy (twice, once for staging, once for prod) which will tear down a bunch of AWS resources, after which I tell some other people they can get rid of the associated AWS accounts and domain names

I've started (and finished, unless there's something I've forgotten or somebody wants more detail on there) a Confluence page listing what needs to be decommissioned and how to do so. The "how to" bits largely consist of saying who to ask to actually do it; the one bit I can do entirely by myself will literally involve pushing a button and waiting a minute or two

It's the AGM of the limited company for these here properties at 18:00, on Zoom. I think I shall attend, though I can't think of anything to raise in AOB. The minutes of previous ones were among the documents sent to me by the solicitors of the seller during the purchasing process and it looks like they occasionally give advance warning of stuff that's going to be done around the place, like the other year when they repaved the path behind block B

It's not been officially promulgated yet, but word came through after I'd knocked off yesterday that the thing I've been working on since a year ago last February will no longer be needed

Interestingly, because it all results from them having negotiated a massive discount, extending over several years, for an external service, they should actually end up saving money despite the waste of time and effort. And although it's completely unrelated to the change in administration, I daresay it will find its way onto a Spending Review report somewhere down the line as a saving that was achieved as part of the new agenda

I gather they already have ideas about what to do with me next, so I'll probably be OK. I need to let them know I'd like to take a bit of time off before moving on to the next thing, though

Having big clear out and don't know what to do with loads of unused tiles. Seems shame to chuck them but nobody wanted them on Freecycle.
