Dull and overcast. Currently 11 degrees with a high of 14 expected. Barometer down to 1025 mBar.

    Sunrise 07:31; Sunset 18:01 BST

On my way to the GP for B12 stab no.3 and a blood test. No traffic on the roads so the bus is hurtling along. I'll be about 15 mins early at this rate

Tonight's major motion picture premiere was Black Bag (2025) in which it initially appears that the wife of an SIS (aka MI6) analyst, also working at SIS, may have gone over to the dark side, and he and his colleagues have to establish the truth of the matter. I enjoyed this: a thriller which eschews the car chase and gun fight stuff in favour of showing a group of people trying to understand one another's relationships and discern their motivations in a milieu where deception is the norm and secrecy is a given. Well worth a watch if you fancy a spy movie with a bit of depth to it

After that, a rewatch of 28 Days Later (2002) - I'l be watching the new one soon, so I thought it only proper to refresh my memory of the first two before that. Such a good film! The poor quality of the picture because of the filming on digital cameras soon stops being annoying, and there are many shots where it's actually beneficial to the mood. Always worth watching, this one

Finally, S1E1 of Alien: Earth, Neverland (TV Episode 2025). I felt it suffered a bit from feeling that it had to introduce all angles of what is intended to be a complex story at the same time. Maybe developing one aspect first then introducing others later would have been a better approach? But what do I know; I just watch the stuff. Anyway, from what I've read online, it manages to get itself together a bit more in subsequent episodes, so I'll cut it some slack for now

    Goodnight all

Tea was brought to me from the Turkish place, because I'm on holiday so I don't have to cook if I don't want to

To accompany this, a bit of the fare dodgers thinking they're clever by pulling a scam that all the others also pull

    Lunch: a Pukka steak slice

I meant to have this yesterday but forgot and had a fish finger bap (white) instead. This meant that the steak slice was one day past its Use By date, but I'm sure it'll be fine

    Morning.

    Friday apparently.

    Dry.

    Grey.

Chillier in here at 16.7 deg, 15 in the kitchen, 14 in the leanto.

1020.5 mBar, 30.14 in Hg, 765.44 Torr, 14.8 psi, (down from 1022 last night), 61% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 24th of February 2020 SimonMac, scruff, and BR14 popped in, LM couldn't be arsed to watch Doctor Who & watched something else instead, and I had a late afternoon walk as the light faded.

Freecell score: 91%, running average: 84%.

Walk (unabbreviated, towpath) walked in the grey gloom. Wanly sunny now.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: 1929: final ep which reached people jumping out of 15th floor windows and Joe Kennedy selling everything when the shoeshine "boys" started giving stock tips.

More welding: I used to be able to do this stuff rather well: these days: not so much.

Freecell score after getting bored with welding: 100%, running average: 84%.

Tea: chicken in white sauce etc. Nice enough.

Entertainment: PM. 18 o'clock news. The News Quiz.

Nazi Megastructures on 5Select. More bollox: 1945 Kamikaze. Tora Tora Tora. Or something.<click>

Taggart: S1 E1. Stone me that was a long time ago. As in 40 years as it transpires. And it was very long: 2 hours 45. Subtitles came in handy: not for the accents but the audio seemed very muffled in parts.

Post-pub entertainment has been a rewatch of the extremely violent, hugely entertaining, and often very beautiful Sisu (2022) in which a bunch of Nazis learn, as so many have had to learn, that you don't mess with a Finn

    Goodnight all

To the pub I went, and it's a very nice little place, located in what remains of the castle grounds

I ended up walking because when I went to get the bike, the magic code wouldn't open the room of storerooms! I think somebody's accidentally triggered the catch on the lock - maybe me, as I popped down earlier to get the lights off the bike so I could recharge them. Anyway, I had to abandon my plan to ride there and walk instead

To be honest, the walk back reminded me of how steep the road past the fire station is; as that's actually the least steep of the various ways of getting back up the hill to where I live, I should probably get a bit fitter before attempting to cycle home from that side of town

Tea: some kind of spicy chicken and potato thing out of the freezer, which I made so long ago that I'm not sure what the spices were. Nice though

To go with this, the remainder of an episode of the motorway cops thing I started watching a while ago

It's been a busy day, but that's me done for the week and next week too!

Tonight, I'm going to the pub for a drink with my old friend the photographer

He's moved now, so we've agreed a place roughly halfway between us. I'm still trying to decide whether to walk or take the bike. There are cycle paths - proper road-separated ones as and when they coincide with roads - virtually the whole way, but coming back has a fair number of uphill stretches to it
