With The Wife away, this morning Max and I went for a walk. Came back in, hung up the washing and went for a walk.
Walked 6km to a hostelry, consumed some of the guest ale (Exeter Avocet), then walked back home.

No idea what's happened to get them riled up, but neither the squirrel nor the crows seem willing to back down. It's been going on for about ten minutes now

Luch was half of Pizza I brought home from restaurant in doggy bag. No way I could eat all that, it was supposed to be a lite portion. Sister ordered kid's portion of fish and chips and the fish looked like a beached whale. No wonder so many people are obese!

Morning denizens
A cloudy day, though tending more towards fluffiness with tiny bits of blue here and there than a blank grey sheet. Mild enough at 13°C with 15° due later, and the barometers are back up a little at 1004/1012mB

Morning all
Overcast and looks a bit damp out. Currently 11 degrees with a high of 14 expected. No rain forecast but I'm sceptical. Barometer up to 1016 mBar.
Yesterday afternoon, HWMBO's youngest arrived for an overnight stay. I made bacon and mushroom risotto and roast poussin for dinner. I cooked a chook each but we ended up only having half each of one.
I'm off to the Saturday Farmers' Market in a minute as I've not been there for a while. Then I need to wake up the urchin so they don't oversleep and miss their train.

Morning.
Saturday.
Dry.
Sun coming up like thunder.
Blue sky.
Chilly in here at 16.5 deg, 16.5 in the kitchen, 14 deg in the leanto, 9.6 deg in the saltinghouse.
1011 mBar, 29.855 in Hg, 758.3 Torr, 14.6633 psi, (up from 1010 last night), 68% RH (Lidl electric).
Shirts in the WM.
Meanwhile on the 24th of November 2019 NF was watching yet more of "The Wire" . whereas I was in the library where those unfortunates requiring Universal Credit were being entertained by someone teaching them how to search for jobs on the interweb. It was painful.
Shirts out of the WM and pegged out on the line.
Smalls in the WM.

8C out and after yesterday evening’s rain, it will be a while before the ground is dry. The walk may be delayed.

Tonight's major motion picture premiere was Late Night with the Devil (2023) in which a 1970s chat show seeking a ratings boost inadvertently releases malign forces…
I thought it was excellent! It does a really good job of depicting both the show as presented to the viewers (it's in 4:3) and the way such a show is (or was) run, and the story builds really well to its very perturbing conclusion. Well worth a watch
And as I was thus in the mood for stories of demonic possession, I rewatched Constantine (2005) because that's always worth a rewatch
Finally, a couple more episodes of We Own This City (TV Mini Series 2022) in which the creators of The Wire demonstrate that the Baltimore police PD has, if anything, only got worse over the last couple of decades
Goodnight all

Lunch, by the way, was a couple of sweet chilli chicken thighs from the hot food counter. And tea has, of course, been beef and Guinness stew, which was absolutely delicious
There's a couple more portions left to go in the freezer, which will stand me in good stead if we get a cold spell
And the bed has been remade, complete with extra pillowsLast edited by NickFitz; Yesterday, 19:12.

With boxes removed, I've been able to sort some stuff out in the bedroom. Said stuff had largely been heaped on the boxes and was, due to their migration, now heaped on the floor. Some of it still is, pending the retrieval of a blanket box from the storage unit, but with easier access to that end of the wardrobe, I was able to store some neatly in there. Some trousers have also been put in the wash, and the bed has been left to air
When I bought expensive new pillows earlier in the year, I found that a stack of two was too much, so switched to just using one. However, I'm not sure that's enough. So I'm going to try using one of the new ones on top of one of the older (but still not very old) ones, as I think that may prove to be the happy medium
And my phone has just alerted me to my colleagues starting a Slack huddle to continue work on the stuff we've been doing. I wish them well of it, but I'm happy to wait until Monday to find out all about it
In the meantime, I'm sat down with a coffee, quietly contemplating the increasing mistiness outside that's starting to blur the tops of the Victorian trees surrounding the old house that is now the University's School of Business, a couple of hundred yards away as the magpie flies

A good number of boxes have been transferred to the car, onwards to the storage place, and upwards to my unit. And then onwards to Big Sainsbury's, where the weekly shop has been done
Returning home, I was met at the door by the delicious, rich aroma of the beef and Guinness stew simmering in the slow cooker. It's going to be a nice one, I reckon

So twin A was in a car accident last week (stolen car hit her) which means she needs to find a new car. She's fine btw just a couple of bruises.
I'm trying to work out if VW's direct to consumer brand (heycar.com) is stupid enough to combine multiple offers together because it seems I can buy a car from there for less than they go for at auction...
Cheapest one elsewhere is £13,500 and yet they have a couple at that price. There is than £1450 in discounts and because it's VW 2 years warranty and servicing included.Last edited by eek; Yesterday, 09:19.
