
It’s turned quite Simpsonesque out now

I’m worried that the bird that met its demise on the lawn earlier today (or last night) might have been one of the magpies rather than a pigeon. I got the binoculars out and had a look at the fragment of wing that was lying on the lawn, and the feathers were very dark at the end, changing to white nearer where they would have been attached to the bird. But it did look more dark grey than black, and pigeon wings can look like that too, judging by some that just flew past

One of the magpies, which I think is the male, was just hopping around down on the lawn on its own. But they don’t always show up as a couple. I’ll have to keep an eye out over the next few days
