Which ever you go for look at the fine print carefully, the limitations on IPSE "insurance" is well known, but I'd double check with QDOS as well

which is the point I'm trying to make.Originally posted by eek View PostNot if IPSE is more than QDOS and those benefits aren't worth the difference in price...

IPSE doesn't provide insurance. They are in effect agents for insurance providers. The tax investigation insurance is provided by Merkel Tax (previously Abbey Tax). Public liability and professional indemnity insurance is provided by Randell Dorling. Merkel's product can be bought directly for less and Randell Dorling's offerings don't depend on being an IPSE member.Originally posted by Lance View Postmy point was that you're providing a load of irrelevant waffle (again).
IPSE and QDOS are both forms of insurance. The fact that IPSE provides more is a bonus not a problem and refusing to use IPSE for insurance because you don't like their goals/views/cut-of-their-jib is not good business, nor does it answer the question.

Yeah, let's think about that. £300-ish for around £1200 of various insurance products plus discounts on other stuff vs £100-ish for IR35 investigation insurance and reviews that are about to stop being your concern...Originally posted by JohntheBike View Posteach individual would have to determine which if any of the peripheral benefits might be advantageous to them before they could make a decision. Such decisions are clearly not clear cut as some ex IPSE members on here would testify to. Additionally, if you join an organisation, you would have to be comfortable with that organisation's goals and policy, which again, some ex IPSE members on here wouldn't agree with.
All insurance is expensive - until you need it. If you're happy that you don't need IPSE's agency default insurance and jury service cover, for example, both of which have been used by their members, then QDOS is certainly cheaper.
Ignore the rubbish about "goals and policy", it's about protecting your business.

What NLUK said, and remember Plus covers any taxation query, not just IR35.Originally posted by MHPPM View PostThanks, why no brainer? IPSE is £300 a year, QDOS is £100?
Also what is PEI?
PEI is what you're asking about, cover for the expenses of an investigation and expert assistance

In that case, IPSE is a no-brainer, commercially. Very little to choose between them in terms of PEI success rates.
