Respond to HMRC
I had a similar letter, I wrote back to HMRC telling them that I never had any association with any scheme and asked them to advise if these letters have been issued in error. I did not send any other information.

I have exactly the same issue, as has my wife. Always been LTD company, always paid salary and dividends, never done the loans thing as it was obviously dodgy. Both of us being investigated.
Hopefully I can close it down easily, as I am genuinely innocent, but its a merry Christmas in the meantime thanks to the stress

There is no Isle of Man company called Principal Contracting Limited and as far as I can see, there never has been.
There is however a registered business name Principal Contractors (registration number 022571B). This is a registered trading name owned by an Isle of Man company called Principal Contracts Limited (registration number 124226C). The trading name registration for from 2009 shows the registered office as Knox House, Finch Road, Douglas. This is of course Barrowman HQ. The current registered office of 1 Mount Pleasant is a literal 2 minute walk away.

NB a liquidator has been appointed.

So this an historic inquiry about loans that weren't disclosed by the deadline of September 30th (hardly surprising given that you don't seem to believe you had any).
I would just wait and see if you get a response and if you haven't heard anything in January chase them up.
However for others reading this don't send stuff to HMRC before checking what with an expert what you should send.
Hardly, just means someone posted about them back in 2013 and we picked them up as dodgy immediately. Their linkedIn page is dead but may be helpful https://www.linkedin.com/company/pri...limited/about/ as might https://www.contractoruk.com/forums/...-trustees.html and https://www.contractoruk.com/forums/...cl-please.html
They were an IoM company so it's why obvious searches on companies house won't pick them up.

Other people, who've had absolutely nowt to do with schemes, have reported getting queries from HMRC about loans.
I don't know where they get their "intelligence" but it seems you can end up on the naughty list by mistake.

@Michail how have you been working in the past, through you own limited company or have you been working via an umbrella company(s). If you have been working via an umbrella company which ones.
And what was the name HMRC are enquirying about.
As for anything else - given that this may not be about a tax scheme but rather just an enquiry you should be posting this in the accounting / legal thread and passing the enquiry to your IPSE / QDOS tax specialist in the first instance.
the company that HMRC quoted is "Principal Contractors Limited"
Actually there seems to be a thread here about them LINK

As far as i am concerned i havent done anything dogdy and never subscribed to any schemes whatsoever.
I have compiled a folder with bank statements, contracts of employments, P60 and pay slips and i am about to send it to them. I am just freaking out though because they asked me if i now a specific company that i have traded with and i actually don't have a clue. Not in my books, no invoices or pay from them. Nothing. Could it be, someone could have been doing something dogdy on my name? I checked the company's name and it seems like a dissolved entity.
Anyone else who is legit has received anything like this?
