And just to show that even Mods can get caught out, I'm adding this here...

A particular tactic is to pretend to be a fellow punter and ask you to email them outside CUK as they 'don't trust messages' - why do you think they say that?

(Oh, and don't fall for sob stories either. Tugging on heart strings is very easy for those who have no heart-strings of their own...)

This is the end of the public service announcement.

And on that note i have decided to close this thread.

It has turned into a flame war, and I have my suspicions regarding who wants it to continue.

Sometimes folks speculate on things (Felicitas may be planning XYZ) without considering the impact this might have on people's state of mind.

Maybe I am or not but I can definitely read. No advice offered at any time from me and never will be.

I have read EEKs posts and made a decision that is all.

My only question - are those legal opinions looking at the correct problem in the correct jurisdiction or are they looking at what you were led to believe the problem and jurisdiction is?

Well said here , seek legal advice and just interact with them and don’t respond to certain comments here , I know it must be hard not to give your 5 pence worth but it’s just fuel for the fire . Life is too short to let people get to you .

Have some trust in your adviser, let them deal with it, that is what you are paying him/her for.

I think you will find that the forum will not add value once you have engaged a professional. I think it will be counter-intuitive to the benefit you should be experiencing when engaging an adviser. If you have any questions, direct them to your adviser. And don't advertise on here what your adviser tells you, do not share any emails or mailshots on here.

Remember you cannot trust everyone on here, you don't even know who we all are. And it doesn't really matter to you if the admin know who they are.

I’m in the same boat as you. Ignore him.
Eek has been a member here for many years and as far as I’m aware doesn’t have any commercial benefit to directing people in one way or another. Some on here do and often they are the ones with smoke and mirrors.

Much of the most sensible statements on here over the years have been from people giving advice seeking nothing in return. Iliketax is a good example.

It’s a tulipty situation but slamming people who have been posting on here for ten years isn’t the answer.
