HD: Hello you're through to the Helpdesk. How may I help you today?
PC: Er hullo, I think the TV set on my computer is broken.
HD: Um ok, Is the power light on?
PC: No, I don't think so.
HD: Ok, is is plugged in?
PC: Yes, it should be.
HD: Well. Can you check?
PC: Um, I suppose so.... I can't tell as I can't see the plug socket
HD: Oh, is it behind a desk? Can you move it?
PC: No it's just it's too dark for me to see.
HD: Well, can you shine a lamp down there or turn more lights on?
PC: Not really, we've had a power cut.

To be fair, I needed something on PC at 6-30 that morning, so had 2 mins to look at it before I had to leg it out the door to get the train.

That's how I read it.Originally posted by RedSauce View PostSo it wasn't plugged in?
I'm still convinced PC copies and pastes threads directly from mumsnet.
An IT contractor on an IT contractor's forum creates a thread in Technical because a lead wasn't plugged in. It's like a parody of himself.
I do love you though.

Well. Powered off, reseated cable and its all ok now.
I blame the cat. The little tulipe is a sod for trying to climb behind my PC and lie on all the cables.

If you're going to try the onboard you may need to physically remove the GFX card so it doesn't still try to default to it.

I've seen plenty of broken Apple hardware - it's a numbers game. Can't comment on your warranty, but I presume one pays a premium for anything beyond normal consumer rights?Originally posted by Unix View PostI remember the days of fiddling around inside my PC, now I just buy Apple hardware and it has never once let me down, and if it did I would just let Apple fix it.
I'm not anti-Apple, but I do get bored of people claiming they're somehow superior to every PC ever. I've worked on estates with 300+ Apples and the failure rates and issues look pretty much the same as PC's to me.
