Ketoacidosis, usually from the breakdown of amino acids in the absence of carbohydrates to fuel muscles, can make you very ill and in some cases is fatal. It lowers your blood pH.Originally posted by zeitghostAfter extensive research (read "googling like crazy") I've failed to find any toxicity reports for the ingredients listed.

I think that they should have taken the poor thing to the vet, soonest.

 Might still have pegged it.

Big dogs tend not to live all that long.

Of course, there is also the 'post hoc ergo propter hoc' fallacy to be considered.

Ketone - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Although it is difficult to generalize on the toxicity of such a broad class of compounds, simple ketones are, in general, not highly toxic. This characteristic is one reason for their popularity as solvents.

That was due to the crap they were feeding the dog.Originally posted by d000hg View PostThe vet said cause of death could not be determined.

Personally I can understand why the delivery man chucked the parcel over the fence but least he will learn if he sees a "beware of the dog" sign to leave the parcel with a neighbour or a "sorry you were out" card with a neighbour.

Their contract is with H&B, Hermes are H&B's selected Agent?Originally posted by zeitghost View PostDog dies after eating Holland and Barrett herbal tablets

Can't quite understand the logic that it's the fault of Holland & Barrett.

They failed to deliver correctly pills that were dangerous.

Holland and Barrett are responsible for the delivery of the item even if they outsourced it to Hermes.

The owners were stupid they should have took the dog to the Vet and presented Holland and Barrett with the bill.

I tend to be a bit dismissive of SAS's attempts to label all and sundry as cretins, but with these muppets he may be on to something.

Blimey what an unattractive specimen, and the dog's even worse.

Seems a non-story... it died nearly a week later of "unknown causes". H&B could score points by paying for the autopsy I suppose.
