Do you mean like FB/Twitter whose entire business IS social media, or companies who try to latch on to it? Because there would not BE any social media without the former.
I facebook mainly for scrabble, and to see friends pics etc - it is a good way to keep in touch with people who've moved away. I've blocked all the spammy games, so get what I want out of it.
