I know people who set up honeytrap sites 15 years back.
It didn't work then, it really doesn't work now as people just script attacks and try them against whatever set of machines they wish to hit this week.

When I was growing up in India my mother would hang a dead cat in the garden to distract the vermins so we could eat outside without being vexed by these pests.
I propose to virtualise this concept and create decoy websites that will attract these neilists from their targets. *In this way these websites will be safe from this villunous traffic which will be attracted to the decoy as is vermin to a carcass.
The challenges of this approach are the implementation but as a virtualisation expert I hope to host a series of seminars in Uk in coming months where I can attract monies from interesting parties to develop these ideas further and ask for assistance to buy me some hi end blade servers to host the bare metal wax vms hyper visors that will be demo environment that I can use on this uk roadshow.

This thread was reported by one of our more serious techies as being too dumb to stay in Technical.
So I thought I'd give you all a laugh...
