Thanks all for the suggestions. If you think of any specialist trade mags (Developer Weekly, Test-opolitan, PINOQ (Prince2 IN Name Only Quarterly) then that would also be appreciated.

CUK is, of course, a fantastic way to hit the market but there other places to consider.

Job boards - most offer targeted contractor advertising but as you are vaguely rec related they may knock you back?

LinkedIn, join contractor groups and peddle you wares there. Can be cost effective if time is not a barrier.

Google AdWords - does your target market make use of Google in searching for a solution to the problem you are offering to solve? If so whack some Google Ads up.

Specialist accountancy and umbrella providers. Might be worth contacting some of them to see if they would entertain you marketing your product to their clients.

Good luck - if there is anything you think we could help with feel free to PM me.

You're not supposed to magically know the answers, you are supposed to research the market. One way to research the market is to find a sample of the market and ask them.

    On CUK for example.

  • Where would you advertise to reach the largest number of UK contractors?

If one had a hypothetical service aimed at contractors, and a finite budget, where would you advertise (apart from CUK which is in the hypothetical marketing plan anyway as item 1 of 1*) to get the biggest bang for buck?

I'd rather not say what the service is in case I fall foul of CUK advertising T&Cs before handing over cold, hard cash. It's vaguely recruitment-oriented.

*it's not a very well developed plan yet
