probably worth going to inspect suppliers, stay in a nice business hotel, have a few free days so you can investigate the local market and take cosec with you?
I've got a tulip load of parts on order from US for my Plan B - was willing to accept the VAT/Duty charge but wonder if I can avoid it by flying out on Ltd dollar! NLUK, what do you think?
Value only a bout 1k Sterling tho, prolly not much in it....
I bought £800 worth of German suspension for my Japanese car from the US, and yes I did have to pay the duty + VAT (plus duty + VAT on the shipping cost, which seems a bit unfair). Was still half the price than in the UK, of course those were the days of £1 = $2.
Only in Britain, being a fully paid up member of the EU, could ordering a German made part for a Jap car from the USA be cheaper than buying it from Germany.
Gotta love this ****ed up freezing hell hole of a country.
I order American car parts all the time from the US, always by credit card and anything over about $125 you have to pay Duty & VAT on. Not had any issues. Escrow accounts can work but mean too much faffing about unless it's an individual who doesn't take cards rather than a business. Paypal fees are usually too high for larger items.
